A Quiver of Crows Co-Op Review

Have you died in the last 20 seconds? You obviously haven't been playing A Quiver of Crows, a twin stick shooter from Sheado that sounds like a secret follow-up to Game of Thrones. In reality, it's a unique spin on the shmup genre that draws its inspiration from classic games of old. You know, back when they killed you instead of giving you a tutorial every four seconds.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Kamehamehuh?

It's the freakin' weekend!  You know what that means, gang.  It's time to dance in the fall leaves, drink cider on porches, and further our all-digital futures.  Gears of War 4 continues to eke out an existence in the caverns and alcoves of our collective minds, but it too shall fall away with time.  What better way to replace it than with Civilization 6, a grand tale of empires rising and colliding and - ... hold on a second.Dragon Ball?Sorry, this must be a mistake.  It says here segments of the Co-Opticrew are currently enthralled by a new Dragon Ball game.  That... that can't be right.  Right?

New Weapon Class And Broette Trailers Out For Super Dungeon Bros

about X hours ago from

Sometimes, you and your bros (or broettes) need to rent a cabin out in the wilderness, enjoy the scenery, and just relax.  Other times, you and your bros have to grab your crossbows/swords/hammers/wands and just stomp the everloving crap out of whatever baddies stand in your way.  The latter of these scenarios falls under the purview of Super Dungeon Bros, which just got a few new trailers to show off all that vicious weaponry you'll be using to accomplish said stomping, as well as a few new characters to wield them.First up, we've got crossbows, which allow you to puncture your foes from afar.Next are wands, which use the power of the arcane.

Latest Infinite Warfare Suggests We Should Just Go to Space

about X hours ago from

2016 has been a rough year in a lot of ways, and there are some tough problems facing the world as a whole. The best way to deal with them? Well, according to the new video for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, it might be best to head straight up about 62 miles (or 100 km).The live action trailers for the Call of Duty series become something of a yearly highlight since the first one for Call of Duty: Black Ops back in 2010. Whereas last year's Black Ops 3 trailer followed the heroics of "Kevin," this year's video for Infinite Warfare (featuring Michael Phelps and Danny McBride) is taking a little bit of a different approach by advocating some escapism and Guns N' Roses.Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare arrives next Friday, November 4, on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. While there is no campaign co-op to enjoy, you can travel to the  '80s and shoot a bunch of zombies with up to three friends in the "Zombies in Spaceland" mode.

No Co-Op in Civilization VI For Now

No Co-Op in Civilization VI For Now

While more than a few of us spent the past weekend (and this past week) clicking through "just one more turn" in Civilization VI, we have not been doing it together. When the title was announced earlier this year, we figured it would feature some kind of team multiplayer mode where you could enjoy some "comp stomping." Much to everyone's surprise, that feature is not included in the final product. Or, more accurately, it's not enabled. As PC Gamer reports, it seems most likely that Firaxis just wasn't able to get all the bugs out and have it ready to go by launch, given the fact that there are references to it within the game code itself. Some persistent fans did some digging and found the references within the code, and even found a way to turn it on.You can edit one of the game's .lua files to enable it (see the unofficial forum post here for more details), but it's worth stating that this isn't anything Firaxis has suggested or even recommended doing. Based on some initial reports, it sounds like enabling the multiplayer mode does allow you to play with others, but none of the co-op functionality, such as shared tech, map view, or victory conditions, is in place. Hopefully the mode will be officially patched in and enabled soon.

Check Out Watch Dogs 2's Co-Op in Action

about X hours ago from

Watch Dogs 2 will be available (on the consoles, at least) in just a couple weeks. In anticipation of its impending release, some advanced copies have been sent out to a few folks so they can get hands on with it. Polygon's Nick Robinson captured a few hours worth of the game, including 25 minutes of the game's cooperative play. This is some of the first footage we've seen that shows what Watch Dogs 2's co-op experience is like. In the video, Nick joins up with another player to infiltrate a facility and download some data (and pose for a picture). They flee from the scene of the crime and take on a new mission to download some data from a rival NPC hacker. The hacker tries to get away, but Nick uses the stun gun to knock him out (it's easier to download from a target when they're not moving). Finally, Nick and his co-op buddy infiltrate another facility run by a biker gang to... yeah, download some more data...While the repeated objectives aren't terribly exciting, it does sound like both players have access to all the abilities/skills/weapons they've unlocked in their individual playthroughs up until that point. There's one point where Nick's co-op buddy uses a hack skill that Nick hasn't unlocked just yet, so it's good to know that players can join up with one another regardless of progress.

Gunnihilation Will Get Spooky with Witches and Broomsticks Update

It supports four player local co-op throughout the campaign.

Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel DLC Impressions

Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel DLC Impressions

I haven’t revisited Dark Souls 3 since devoting a week of my life to it back when it was released. Being forced back into the world of Lothric wasn’t as jarring as I would have imagined. It feels good to swing a sword, cast some spells, and pick up the game again. This time I head into the first piece of downloadable content titled Ashes of Ariandel.Thrust into a frigid winter wonderland, Ashes of Ariandel is similar to the painted world we saw in Dark Souls. In the original game, you accessed the painted world of Ariamis by touching a painting and getting sucked into the world. In Dark Souls 3, a new NPC who invites the player to touch a piece of a painting, immediately teleporting them to a new area filled with rotting crows, packs of wolves, and Vikings. The first messages scattered throughout the ground are permanent, warnings from the developers telling the player to turn back if they haven’t finished the game proper. In Dark Souls speak this means the path ahead will be difficult and is meant for high level characters. I’ve sunk triple digit hours into Dark Souls 3, and I can hold my own in PVP, but I still found this DLC to be very challenging - a sentiment echoed by my fellow Ashen Ones.

Overcooked: Gourmet Edition Out Now

about X hours ago from

Everyone, fire up your grills and get ready to yell at your friends/coworkers.  Overcooked: Gourmet Edition is out in physical form.  Now, I get it.  You (presumably) like your friends and don't want to scream at them for the sake of enjoyment.  Trust me, though.  It's gonna happen, whether you want it to or not.  Let's say you play Overcooked with your pals, and a few levels go by without a hitch.  You're slapping mushroom soup on plates, cleaning dishes, and keeping folks happy.  Then, out of nowhere, the game wants you to start making fish sandwiches on top of the soups you've grown so used to.  On top of that, your kitchen is now on a floating block of ice.  All of a sudden, you've got an order that's about to run out of time and there isn't a fried piece of fish in sight and that's insane because why wouldn't your friends be cooking any fish and WHAT'S A GUY GOT TO DO AROUND HERE TO GET A GOSH DARN PIECE OF FRIED FLIPPIN' FISH AROUND HERE.
