Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime Is Available Through PlayStation Plus Next Month

about X hours ago from

There comes a time every month when the PlayStation Prophets venture down from their floating enclave and deliver free games unto their followers, the PlayStation Plus subscribers.  As it just so happens, that time was earlier today, and one of those free games is quite the gem.To put it plainly, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is on the PlayStation Plus lineup for April.  It's a four player cooperative space... explorer in which anthropomorphic animals must work together to guide an oddly shaped spaceship through a series of semi-randomly generated missions, all with the intent of bringing love back into the world.  It's a whole thing.  You can catch a glimpse of it in the video below.Piloting a spaceship doesn't sound all that hard, right?  Well, it isn't, until you realize that no one's on the steering wheel, so you'll have to do that, and wait a second, no one's moving the shield around either, and hang on, there are giant space-fish moving in behind us and no one's on the rear gun why aren't you idiots on the rear gun oh my god everything's on fire.

Army Of Two Is Now Backwards Compatible On Xbox One

Sure, the Xbox One has a bunch of cool stuff going for it, but what does it really offer in terms of high-fives and bro banter?  Recent surveys have indicated that users on Microsoft's flagship console feel as though they can't really engage in a true "bro-down throwdown" under the current climate.  What should a company do when presented with such a precarious situation?Obviously, the solution is to add Army of Two to the backwards compatibility list, and Microsoft's done just that, with the game being available at this very moment for your co-op third person shooter needs.  As usual, the game is available to download for free if you owned it digitally on Xbox 360, but otherwise, you can pick it up for fifteen bucks. We reviewed Army of Two and its co-op back when it was first released in 2008.  If you're interested, you can see what we had to say here.  If you like rehearsed celebrations, private military contractors, and masks that are shaped like skulls, the game will probably be right up your alley.

New Classes and Schools of Magic Added to Divinity: Original Sin 2

about X hours ago from

Larian Studios' development of Divinity: Original Sin 2, the sequel to their RPG hit from 2014, is continuing apace. A new update hit the Early Access version yesterday that added two new schools of magic - Polymorph and Summoning - that were part of the Kickstarter campaign stretch goals, along with two new classes that focus on these schools: the Metamorph and Conjurer. One of the things I love about Larian Studios is how much fun they seem to have in their game design. The new Polymorph school of magic, for instance, not only allows you to buff your playable character with specific features like wings to gain new ground in combat or tentacles to strip weapons from your foes, but you can also turn enemies (or friends) into chickens. And that's just in a combat situation as those same skills can be used out of battle in some creative ways as well.

Remember LittleBigPlanet 3?  Yesterday's news, literally in this case, as although the game may be getting old, it was in the news recently as the PlayStation Plus game for February.  This means that many new players would have picked up the game and may just be interested in the new Mass Effect: Andromeda costume pack coming to the game for free.LBP3 has a strong tradition of adding popular costume packs from other games, so why break with it?  The pack contains five new costumes for the grand total of nothing that allows you to dress Sackboy and his pals up like various races from the new action RPG.

New Genesis/Master Drive Brawler, Paprium, Coming This Fall

Next-gen consoles? Bah! "PC Master Race?" Get out of town! VR?! Don't make me laugh! Everyone knows the hot thing in 2017 is the Sega Genesis/Master Drive system. And everyone who's anyone knows that THE hottest game to get is Paprium. It'll make you question everything you know about games, love, and that poster on your wall that gives you funny feelings.Ok, now that I've time warped back from 1992, hello. Yes, games development in the year 2017 has reached the point where developers are actually going so retro that they are making new games exclusively for old consoles. WaterMelon Games has finally revealed their latest title Paprium in a trailer that may be one of the best things I've watched all year. The game is a classic side-scrolling beat-em-up that supports two player local co-op, but there's a catch. You can only get Paprium for the Sega Genesis/Master Drive systems. No, really. According to the game's official website, the game cartridge will only work with "PAL and NTSC original Mega Drive / SEGA Genesis game system," and "after-market systems do not have the guts to run PAPRIUM." It also sounds like there are no plans to port it to PC or some other platform.

Mass Effect: Andromeda - Co-Op Missions Video Recap and Impressions

Mass Effect: Andromeda - Co-Op Missions Video Recap and Impressions

Mass Effect: Andromeda has built on the co-op mode of its predecessor, giving it a slightly different feel than Mass Effect 3, but retaining a lot of what made that mode a ton of fun. Combined with the new cover and movement system the action oriented nature of Andromeda's four player co-op mode is a solid, if often frustrating, shooter. The most frustrating aspect of the mode is still the dependency on having all four player slots filled. Mass Effect: Andromeda does not scale its missions to the number of players - meaning you'll be forced to fill a game with public players if you only have one or two friends handy. The mode itself starts with almost a fighting game style roster of characters to choose from, each one you level up and customize to your liking. You also earn experience towards an overall multiplayer level which unlocks further bonuses. On top of the character customization you'll be earning currency towards purchasing chests of cards.
