Sine Mora EX Coming to Consoles and PC

about X hours ago from

Grasshopper Manufacture's 2012 shmup, Sine Mora, will see a re-release this year as Sine Mora EX. The game will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch touting some revamped visuals and a new 16:9 aspect ratio (and 4K support for PC/PlayStation 4). Perhaps the best new feature, though, is the local co-op.If you're familiar with some of Grasshopper's (and Suda 51's) past games, then you know they have some interesting takes on familiar video game formulas while also weaving a different kind of story. Sine Mora is no exception to that as the main narrative revolves around two different tales occurring at two different points in time, but they're linked in a rather interesting way. From a gameplay perspective, rather than the player's ship having a health bar or dying in one hit, each time you take fire from an enemy, you lose time. Like I said, there's a lot of interesting stuff going on here. The good news is that you can team up with a buddy locally to play through the entire story.Sine Mora EX will arrive sometime this summer for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It will feature two player local co-op throughout the story mode on all platforms, and should retail for $19.99.

Star Wars Battlefront II Announced, Dated

about X hours ago from

Electronic Arts has announced Star Wars Battlefront II for the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. The game will span all three "trilogies" of Star Wars titles allowing fans to experience all of the classic battles alongside some new ones. Listening to fan feedback the game has a full featured single player campaign that bridges the story of Return of the Jedi to The Force Awakens, dropping you in the boots of an Imperial elite special forces unit.Confusingly the game is named the same as the 2005 game as well. Also confusingly, the game's split-screen co-op mode is only available on consoles. There are no details if the mode will play out like 2015's Battlefront, or something new entirely.Embark on an endless Star Wars action experience from the bestselling Star Wars HD videogame franchise of all time. Rush through waves of enemies on Starkiller Base with the power of your lightsaber in your hands. Storm through the jungle canopy of a hidden Rebel base on Yavin 4 with your fellow troopers, dispensing firepower from AT-STs. Line up your X-wing squadron for an attack on a mammoth First Order Star Destroyer in space. Or rise as a new Star Wars hero-iden, an elite Imperial special forces soldier-and discover an emotional and gripping single-player story spanning thirty years.

Toukiden 2 Co-Op Stream Recap

about X hours ago from

I thought I had had my fill of Monster Hunter style games after God Eater 2, but then in walks Toukiden 2. Locke and Matt joined me last week to slay oni or die trying.First off, apologies on the audio of the video. It seems something got mixed up somewhere and only my audio came through in the end, so you won't be able to hear Matt or Locke's dulcet tones. While the tutorial/first hour or so of gameplay isn't the greatest way to get things going, there's a lot about Toukiden 2 that we all like. The variety of weapons, the way the Mitama let you create different builds/role, and how all of that comes together as a solid co-op experience for friends. We'll have our full review next week, but for now, enjoy us running around and killing stuff.

New Content Update for The Wild Eight Opens Doors

about X hours ago from

The first big content update for the eight player survival title, The Wild Eight, has arrived. The game is still in Early Access, but this update adds some of the mystery and mystique that was previously teased. While the main goal for you and your band of survivors is to survive the Alaskan wilderness, everything may not be as it seems. Why did your plane crash in the first place, for instance? Where does that half-buried door in the snow lead? With the "Beyond the Door" update, you can start getting some answers. New quests, a new area to explore, a new fast travel system, and new skills/abilities for the characters have all been added. The Wild Eight is still in Early Access on Steam, so no doubt more features/content will be forthcoming until it hits final release form sometime in the future. Eight player online co-op is supported in its Early Access state.

Scalpers: Turtle & the Moonshine Gang Let's Play Recap

Scalpers: Turtle & the Moonshine Gang Let's Play Recap

From the title of the game, Scalpers: Turtle & the Moonshine Gang could be nothing else than a western themed video game or classic cartoon. Maybe it's a little of both. The twin-stick style shooter hit early access on Steam recently and drops players into the boots of several creatures in an overtly stylish and surprisingly polished game, despite the early version. Our four player co-op adventures had us saddling up as a turtle, skunk, or mole - each with the same selectable abilities to support the gang. While the standards are here like the ability to heal the group, there are other more defensive or offensive capabilities - like the ability to lasso and stun or dash and break up a group. The characters themselves also have unique abilities; the turtle can..turtle, the mole can burrow, and the skunk can make things stinky (stun). The guns themselves are loot based, with basic models available to all like a six shooter, shotgun, minigun and katana but further unlocks are earned by completing levels. One standout feature is the ability to curve bullets using a six shooter, definitely unique in a twin-stick.

Today's Update For EVE: Valkyrie Enhances Its Co-Op Gameplay

about X hours ago from

The folks over at CCP Games must've decided to take a quick break from their spreadsheet simulator, because there's a new update out for EVE: Valkyrie.  It's a good thing, too.  I hear that if you stare at EVE: Online's code for too long, strange runes start to scrawl themselves on your body, and they say things like "B12", and "Z53", and "=SUM(E20:F20)".The "Groundrush" update adds a total of three new maps, an update to the Wormholes mode, Steam Controller support on PC, and finally,  a few new modes to the game's Player vs AI playlist.  You can check out the trailer for the PS VR version of the update below:As far as the game's five player online co-op is concerned, the new modes available are Control and Carrier Assault, meaning you now have a few more ways to spend an evening with your buddies in your simulated cockpits.  Alongside this update, CCP Games was clear about their intention to offer the same XP and rewards for the game's co-op and PVP modes.  Considering the way a few recent games have handled their co-op modes, this stance feels like a nice reprieve.

Marvel Heroes Coming to Consoles as Marvel Heroes Omega

about X hours ago from

I've enjoyed Gazillion's action-RPG, free-to-play, loot grindfest, Marvel Heroes 2016, for some time over the past year and a half. The "Biggest Update Ever" this past January made, from my point of view, some welcome changes to the title, and also increased the speculation that a console port would be on its way. Last week, Gaz finally revealed that port as Marvel Heroes Omega. The game will be making its way over to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime this year, though it will not have quite the same number of features as its PC cousins. Instead of the current roster of 62 playable heroes, Marvel Heroes Omega will only have 38. The story will only span chapters one through nine (PC goes to 10), there will be only one challenge/patrol area (Midtown), the (somewhat) recently added Danger Room will be available, but neither of the two raids will be part of the title at launch.

MMO Co-Opportunities Volume LXXV: Death and Rebirth

Spring is here, and with it comes a ton of new content for MMOs as well as the ever-increasingly common rebirth of MMOs into a free-to-play model. This month for MMOCO, we have a cohesive theme of death and rebirth: TERA is getting a new Valkyrie class (the arbiters of life and death), Neverwinter has announced a new content expansion focused on an army of the dead, and The Secret World will be reborn as Secret World Legends.
