about X hours ago from

A favorite co-op title amongst many of the Co-Optimus staff is the SNES classic, Secret of Mana. If you were one of the many folks that were unable to procure a SNES Classic Edition amidst all of that furor on Tuesday, then don't worry, you'll have a chance to play this outstanding title again. While it sounds like the gameplay has been "upgraded" to match with modern aRPGs, you'll still be able to enjoy the title with a couple of friends locally.Go ahead and circle the date on your calendars, now. See Co-Op Quests in Action for Monster Hunter: World

about X hours ago from

Prior to Gamescom, Capcom invited a few outlets out to their San Francisco office to check out the new Monster Hunter title, Monster Hunter: World. While there have been a number of videos released since the initial E3 reveal, not one has shown off or mentioned co-op! Well buckle in because it's time for some four player monster hunting. There are a number of videos from a variety of outlets floating around there, but the one we're picking here is from Casey DeFreitas and Brandin Tyrrel of IGN. Casey has extensive knowledge and playtime with the entire Monster Hunter series, while Brandin is brand-new to it. Both cover some of the new features and gameplay aspects they liked from both a veteran and novice perspective, and then start discussing a little bit of the co-op aspects around the 2:55 mark. Cooperation and coordinating roles/attacks with your teammates in order to bring down your prey have been a hallmark for the series, but the various tweaks, improvements, and new features (like a greater interaction between monsters and the world around them) seem to raise this higher and allow for a better introduction to the game for new players.Monster Hunter: World will be out on consoles sometime early next year, and then at a later date for the PC. Four player online co-op will be supported throughout all your monster hunting fun.

The Crew 2 Is Out In March 2018

Fresh off the Gamescom 2017 presses, Ubisoft announced to the world that they'll be releasing their open world driving game, The Crew 2, on March 16th of next year.  There are lots of other details, like pre-order bonuses and beta opportunities, but let's talk briefly about what exactly The Crew 2 will entail. As with its predecessor, the game will be set in a somewhat stylized version of the USA, which has been modified mainly to ensure you have as many opportunities to do sweet motor-tricks as possible.  One of the main differences, though, is that the sequel contains boats and planes in addition to the usual roster of boring ol' cars.  Using something called the "Fast Fav" feature, you'll be able to switch between each mode of transportation on the fly.  Thankfully, The Crew 2 will continue to feature online co-op for up to four players.Since this is a Modern AAA Video Game, Ubisoft also detailed the various pre-order bonuses and upgraded versions.  If you're curious about all the possible combinations, they're each detailed on the game's official page.  The most important detail, though, is likely the fact that all pre-orders unlock three days early, on March 13th.  If you just can't wait to get yourself behind the wheel, you can register for the game's beta on that same page.

Take A Look At LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2's Gamescom Trailer

about X hours ago from

Hello?  Is anyone there?  I think... I think I'm trapped in some sort of LEGO games purgatory.  Maybe I died on my trip to LEGOLAND, and I'm stuck here until my soul is sent one way or the other.  I suppose I may as well make the best of it, so here's the latest bit of LEGO games news.As you're probably aware, Gamescom 2017 is afoot in Cologne, and while it doesn't hold the same weight as E3, per se, it is a good source of announcements and trailers right before the busy release season.  This time is no different, as Warner Bros. just dropped a new video for their upcoming title, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2.  Check it out:It looks like there will be plenty of chances to explore those Marvel locations you know and love.  If I was a betting man, I'd probably put down a few bucks on the odds of them being filled with unlockables.  As tradition mandates, LMSH2 will feature two player local co-op, so you can look forward to lots of hours of exploring and unlocking with your co-op partner of choice.

New Gameplay Footage of Cuphead Shows Co-Op Boss Battles

about X hours ago from

Elise Farvis from Game Informer got some hands-on time with the (yes, actually!) forthcoming Cuphead from Studio MDHR while attending Gamescom this week. The title sounds just as punishing as it's been made out to be previously, but it also looks like it's a lot of fun, especially with a friend. The gameplay footage below goes through one level solo, and then two bosses in co-op. If you're interested in just the co-op portion, skip to the 3:20 mark. In both of the boss battles, you'll see Elise and her co-op buddy swapping between two different attacks: a long-range blue bullet, and short range red burst (akin to a shotgun blast). Each of these weapons are useful in dealing with the various enemies and hazards in the game, and teaming up with a buddy means you can pretty much cover both bases at once. You'll also see that players can revive one another by jumping into the ghost that appears whenever they lose all of their health.Cuphead is out at the end of September for PC and Xbox One.

There Will Be Post-Launch Content for Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle

There Will Be Post-Launch Content for Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Mario and his Rabbid friends will be duking it out XCom style with a bunch of evil Rabbids next Tuesday in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and yesterday Ubisoft just revealed plans for some additional content that will be arriving after its release. The good news is that there will be additional co-op challenges as part of all this. The three things that Ubisoft outlined/teased in their blog post for post-launch content are eight "Steampunk" themed weapons that will be available at launch, new solo and co-op challenge maps, and "unexpected story content." The challenge maps will be released sometime this fall, while the new story content won't drop until sometime next year. All of this can be yours if you pick up the Season Pass, which will be available on launch day (August 29) in the Nintendo eShop for $19.99. Considering the game itself is a bit of an unknown quantity at this point, this means you're essentially paying $20 for content for something sight-unseen, so you might want to wait just a bit before grabbing that. We'll have a Co-Op Review of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle after its release, so be sure to keep an eye out for that to get our thoughts on the game as a whole and, specifically, how good are those co-op challenges.

Switch Version of Rocket League Getting Slick Nintendo-Themed Cars

about X hours ago from

Two years after its initial summer release, Rocket League is still going strong. The "soccer with cars" title will be making its way onto the Nintendo Switch later this year and the development team over at Psyonix have a special treat for anyone who picks it up on that platform: Nintendo-themed cars.Depending on which side of the pitch you find yourself, you'll be driving that big old ball towards the opposing team's goal in a Mario, Luigi, or Samus-themed car. If you're on the Orange side, you can use the "Mario NSR" or "Samus Gunship" cars, and on the Blue side you'll get "Luigi NSR" or a Varia Suit Samus car. I suspect everyone will want to be on the Orange team with that gunship car. There will also be some special Mario/Luigi hats that can be used with any car, and some special boosts (e.g., the Gunship's "Wave Beam") that are specific to the Nintendo cars. These new cars will be absolutely free for Switch owners, though you'll have to unlock them by meeting some in-game requirements that are (for now) unknown.

Eight Minutes of Far Cry 5 Gameplay

about X hours ago from

Ubisoft dropped an eight minute guided gameplay video of Far Cry 5 on Monday while everyone was busy definitely not looking at the sun. There's no specific discussion of the campaign co-op in this, but you can at least get an idea of what you and your buddy will be able to do together (like flying a plane or stopping "horse baptisms").Seriously, they just say "oh, they're doing a horse baptism" like it's a thing.Anyways, Far Cry 5 is out February 27, 2018 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It will support two player online co-op throughout the campaign.
