Our Weekend In Gaming: A Whole New World

Our Weekend In Gaming: A Whole New World

Some of the Co-Opticrew (everyone that isn't me) seem to be chugging along quite nicely in their Monster Hunter: World experience, while others (literally just me) can't seem to handle a certain fire-breathing dinosaur who is very much a trash creature with no redeeming qualities.  Either way, most of our plans revolve around exploring and surviving the "New World".Naturally, not everyone is interested in the minutiae of hunting down creatures the size of a Macy's Day float, so we've got a few other things going on as well.  We'll be hacking in Boston, defending an Aegis, and fighting some aliens.  Check it out!Nick Puleo (@NickPuleo) - "Civ VI, maybe some Monster Hunter."

Second Beta for Metal Gear Survive Kicks Off Today

about X hours ago from

If you missed out on the Metal Gear Survive beta last month, good news! You'll have another chance to check out the game's co-op mode for the next few days before its full release on the 20th. Another open beta kicks off today on PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, and will run until Sunday, February 18.The beta will include the same content as the previous one (i.e., three co-op missions, two different maps, daily missions) and will reward everyone who participates with some in-game goodies should they pick up the full game. If you still have the beta installed on your PS4 or Xbox One, then you'll just have to download a patch and you'll be good to go. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly with the beta's launch this time around. Details about the beta can be found over at the official website.Metal Gear Survive launches on February 20 and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Four player online co-op will be supported in the separate horde/survival mode.

Take A Look At Far Cry 5's Guns For Hire In New Trailer

about X hours ago from

Look, for most people reading this article, Far Cry 5 will largely be a two-player experience.  You'll be spending a majority of your time with an online pal wreaking havoc on rural Montana, but what's a freedom fighter to do when their partner of choice isn't available?  Easy - call up your friendly neighborhood AI.The game's latest trailer details each of the seven guns-for-hire, including their weaponry, combat style, and some light background snippets.  Check it out below:I'm certainly hoping I won't be calling on my artificial allies too often, but to be fair, they seem like they'd be a solid addition in a pinch.  Who wouldn't want a dang woodland ninja firing arrows at anyone who looks at you the wrong way?

Deep Rock Galactic Hits Early Access This Month

about X hours ago from

Ghost Ship Games' Deep Rock Galactic bounced around in a variety of alpha and beta tests last year, and while the title may not be at the "final version" stage, it will be available for all to play starting on February 28. It will be entering Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview simultaneously on that day, so you can pick it up and play on your platform of choice. The title certainly draws inspiration from the Left 4 Dead games, but it adds to it different classes to play and character progression. We had a pretty good time when we played during one of the alpha sessions, and are looking forward to getting our hands on it some more.Deep Rock Galactic enters Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview on February 28, 2018. Four player online co-op is supported throughout.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Gets PC Release Date

about X hours ago from

Fatshark announced via a Twitch live stream yesterday that Warhammer: Vermintide 2 - the follow-up to their successful FPS loot game based in the Warhammer universe - will be arriving on the PC next month. Sharpen your blades, load your muskets, and ready your bows, for Chaos is coming...We got hands on with an early demo (single-player only, unfortunately) of the title last year, and the sequel definitely shows some promise. The ability to customize and specialize your hero should open up new gameplay possibilities when playing with friends, and the addition of the Chaos faction means you'll have to prioritize foes in the midst of combat. Hopefully the improved loot system will make getting new gear less of a chore.Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will release on PC via Steam on March 8, 2018. A PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version of the title is planned and should be out sometime later this year. Four player drop-in/drop-out online co-op is supported throughout.
