Astroneer Just Got A Huge Basebuilding Update

about X hours ago from

Astroneer, a slightly more whimsical take on the whole survival genre, has been chugging along in Steam's Early Access program since late 2016.  Where many titles have floundered when given this amount of public development time, Astroneer has managed to stay in the public eye and, if Steam reviews are to be believed, maintained a good relationship with its community. In part, this has been due to a fairly steady and forward-moving development cycle, which has most recently culminated in its biggest update thus far.  This patch is mostly focused on the game's basebuilding and power systems, as detailed in the trailer below. We haven't spent a great deal of time covering Astroneer lately, but the game's four player online co-op has been well received, and its forward momentum is showing no signs of slowing down.  That's no small feat for a relatively small team handling development on two separate consoles (PC and Xbox One).  I've been wanting a reason to check out more of it lately, and a brand new batch of base-centric content may be just the thing.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Management Opportunities

We meet again, dear readers.  Another Friday afternoon is upon us, shimmering with opportunity.  And just what will we be doing with our near-limitless options for fun and relaxation, you ask?  Well... to be honest, there's going to be quite a bit of management going on, in both the micro and macro senses.  It seems we can't quite handle being fully untethered from our day jobs. We've got civilization management, inventory management, and even a little bit of emotional management on the agenda.  Check it out!Nick Puleo (@NickPuleo) - "Civ 6 most likely."

Bleed 2 Has A Release Date And Trailer For The Switch

about X hours ago from

If you have some darn quick reaction times and just love it when bullets whiz by inches from your face, then boy howdy, do I have some good news for you.  Bleed 2, the slick action platformer game that originally released on PC back in 2017, has a release date and trailer for the Nintendo Switch. Come March 8th, you and a friend can blaze (or stumble) your way through the game's campaign in the living room, on the bus, or even on one of those fancy space rockets that everyone seems to be shooting off these days.  Check out the trailer below for a taste of just what you'll be in for.Having a friend along for the ride will certainly be helpful, but I can already tell my co-op partner and I are bound to lose track of our respective characters.  In a game with such tight margins, I have to believe that'll result in an embarrassing number of deaths.

Farming Simulator 19 Arriving This Fall

It's time once again to till the land, plant the seeds, and reap what you sow. Farming Simulator 19 will be arriving this Fall, and the announcement trailer REALLY wants to pump you up for some hot farm simulation action.Aside from the announcement of its release this and the trailer, there are not a lot of co-details that have been revealed at this time. Sure, there are new areas to build your farm and you can raise horses, but how many of my friends can I rope into being my volunteer workforce? For now, we're assuming the game will support the same number of players as Farming Simulator 17 (i.e., up to 16 on the PC, and up to 8 on PS4 and Xbox One).Farming Simulator 19 will release sometime Fall 2018 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Fable Fortune Leaves Early Access Today

Fable Fortune Leaves Early Access Today

Flaming Fowl Studios' Fable-themed CCG, Fable Fortune, officially leaves Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview today. This means that it is now a full free-to-play title that anyone can pick up and play without having to buy any kind of "starter pack." While you can purchase card packs using your real world currency of choice, those packs can also be acquired using in-game currency earned by playing.Aside from the cards/characters from the Fable-verse, what sets Fable Fortune apart from the other digital CCGs out there is the quest and "good vs evil" mechanic. At the start of every match, you choose a quest, such as use your hero ability four times. Competing that quest grants you a special card as well as presenting you with a choice: do you choose the good or evil path? Choosing a path not only changes your hero ability, but it also affects the cards you play. Some cards have a "Morality" mechanic and will "Transform" into cards with different abilities depending on if you're good or evil. It's a neat idea and an interesting implementation of Fable's morality system.
