New Co-Op Mission Will Drop This Month for Metal Gear Survive

Metal Gear Survive arrived last week to... mild fanfare? It seems like many of the survival elements are too punitive and players end up spending more time managing different base elements/meters than engaging in some stealth action that the name "Metal Gear" implies. Also, there's apparently just one mission type for the co-op mode (i.e., defend a point against waves of enemies). I guess Konami is doing something about that by adding a new co-op mission type this month. The new co-op mission is a "Rescue Mission" where players will "coordinate with your squad to go rescue soldiers seeking for help." From the news post on the official website:Compared to Salvage Missions, those missions will require a whole new level of cooperation and team spirit More information soon!

Games With Gold March 2018

about X hours ago from

Microsoft has given their Gold members word on what their next month of free games will be, with four more games coming over the course of March. Unfortunately, Brave (based on the Pixar film but not as well received, critically, as the film) is the only game that features Co-Op, but for the low low price of free, it’s worth picking up.For the other games, Super Hot, Trials of the Blood Dragon, and Quantum Conundrum are all free. Further, both Brave and Quantum Conundrum are available for Xbox 360 and with this they are also becoming Backwards Compatible on Xbox One. So no matter if you’re playing in the current generation or generations past, you can have some Pixar-fueled Co-Op fun. Will you be playing the games this month, or has cabin fever got the best of you and you just want to be outside in the coming spring weather? Let us know in the comments below!

Nine Parchments Gets An Xbox One Release Date

about X hours ago from

Listen, I know it's pretty easy to draw a snarky comparison between Nine Parchments and fellow co-op twin-stick spell-based... thing, Magicka, but if our own experience with the game is to be believed, there's a substantial amount of difference between the two.  For example, Nine Parchments is about to be out on Xbox One, a console the Magicka series never touched.  March 7th, to be exact.  So, you know, stick that in your pipe and make a snide remark about it.  The game had always been planned for release on Microsoft's home console, but a firm date hadn't yet been announced for the four player co-op title.  In it, you take on the role of a student in the Astral Academy, who is tasked with finding the titular parchments in order to graduate. If you're curious about the gameplay, check out the launch trailer below. If I know my co-op crew, not a single one of us will be picking spells that are even remotely helpful to each other, which is probably for the best.

PAYDAY 2 Out Now on the Switch

about X hours ago from

If Insane Clown Posse taught us anything, it's to be wary of clowns wielding axes. PAYDAY 2 went just a little bit further to showcase that axe-clowns are nothing compared to the sheer police-murdering power of clowns armed with shotguns. Now you can finally relieve the bureaucracy of their possessions on the go as a full four-player PAYDAY 2 lands on the Switch. If you're into robbing banks while in transit, check out the trance-heavy trailer below. Leave it to a group of masked jerks to finally stick it to those Washington fat cats.

Fable Fortune Co-Op Challenge Stream Recap

about X hours ago from

Fable Fortune left Early Access last week and has fully arrived as a free-to-play card game on the PC and Xbox One. As it's been sometime since we took a look at it, we decided to hop back in for a bit to see how things are looking with 1.0.It's probably worth stating before things kick off in the video that neither Mike nor myself have put a lot of time in the game to get more cards beyond whatever we got from the Early Access. We both tossed together a couple quick decks and hopped in to just take a look. It is clear that the Co-Op Challenges in the game, even on "Normal" difficulty, are not exactly geared towards that level of play. That's not to say I don't think you can't beat the challenge with just the basic stuff you get the first time you hop in, but the bosses you face do require some very specific strategies to be employed. With that being said, I think there's something to all of this. The inclusion of a dedicated co-op mode to be played and enjoyed with a friend is a really nice feature missing from a lot of similar digital card games. The "Morality" and questing mechanics have some definite potential for interesting deck builds. I'll be interested to see how this all develops and continues once the next big content patch arrives.

Explore Dangerous Depths in Debris Co-Op, Out Now

about X hours ago from

You know when you try to do a great thing and then it all goes horribly, horribly wrong? Like picking up a cake for your friend's birthday party, only to bank a turn entirely too fast and redecorate your car's interior with buttercream? Debris embodies that to an extreme. The narratively-driven 2 player experience is out NOW on Steam for PC and Mac.This game originally launched single player back in October 2017, but the update that released today brings it into the co-op wheelhouse. The discovery of meteoric debris in the Arctic has brought your special team to this remote region with the promise of 100% pure, clean energy. Of course, given that it's a video game something utterly terrible happens and two of the members are left to both survive and solve the mystery of this bizarre force.

Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn Will Be Out This Spring, No Co-Op at Launch

about X hours ago from

It was a surprise when it was announced, and perhaps even more of a surprise when it got funded, but Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn will be an actual video game that is actually released this year. That's the good news. The bad news? The title will not launch with co-op.In the initial Indiegogo campaign that successfully wrapped up back in May 2014, one of the planned features for the game was co-op gameplay. Specifically, the campaign stated:Co-op Gameplay.  Grab a friend and battle it out in tandem.  Play as Shaq’s identical twin (no he doesn’t sell insurance) or select from a host of other playable characters with different skills and power-ups. Split screen action available, baby!

Check Out Some Kirby Star Allies Co-Op Gameplay

about X hours ago from

The next Kirby title, Kirby Star Allies, will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch next month. While many of the pink puff's games are single-player only affairs, Star Allies will allow up to four friends sit down on a couch and play together. Nintendo posted a video last Friday that showed off just how that co-op will work.Bringing your friends into the game first requires Kirby to "make friends" by using friendship hearts. Once Kirby makes a friend out of an enemy (rather than inhaling them and absorbing their essence), another player can join in. The more friends Kirby makes, the more friends can join in the fun (up to a max of 4). Whatever foes your buddies control, they'll be able to use their abilities and special moves. They can even change to a different enemy by befriending them, which may come in handy depending on what the level/situation requires. Players keep their characters between levels, too, which is nice so you don't have to keep adding your buddies back in all the time.Kirby Star Allies will be available on the Nintendo Switch on March 16 2018. It will support four player couch co-op throughout the campaign.
