Warhammer 40k Inquisitor Martyr Stream Recap and Impressions

about X hours ago from

After a brief delay, Neocore Games' Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr has finally arrived on the PC (next month for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One). We took the game for a spin last fall when it was still in Early Access, and it's definitely progressed quite a bit since then. If you missed our "Let's Play Co-Op" stream this week, enjoy the recap video below! While it's disappointing that the campaign is restricted to single-player only, there's still a lot of opportunities to enjoy some cooperative gameplay and fight the forces of Chaos with your friends. In fact, outside of those campaign missions that also double as a tutorial for all the different features and systems in Inquisitor - Martyr, all other missions can be completed with up to three other players online. This includes the custom missions you can create using "Uther's Tarot" (though it's worth noting all players need to have enough FATE [in-game currency] to to join), and the special assignment missions that are multi-step with choices to make along the way (only the host player can make choices, but they can narrate and let others vote on what to do). Players also have three different classes - Crusader, Assassin, and Psyker - from which to choose, and different specializations (ranged or melee) within those classes.

[E3 2018] - GTFO Will Test Your Nerves and Stealth Abilities

about X hours ago from

While none of the Co-Optimus staff is at E3 this year, unfortunately, we're still scouring through all the news coming out of the event to catch any tasty co-op tidbits. This particular one comes from Christopher Livingston over at PC Gamer, who details his hands-on time with 10 Chambers Collective's co-op FPS, GTFO.Last December, during the 2017 Game Awards, we got a two-minute trailer that showed off some of the horrors that await the team of explorers. In his hands-on impressions (and in the footage below), Christopher details how stealth is an important part to GTFO as it helps to keep the horrors at bay:

[E3 2018] - Overcooked 2 Heading To Multiple Platforms This August

about X hours ago from

Yesterday's Nintendo Direct had a lot to say about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (I mean, A LOT), but they also revealed a sequel that we're super excited about. Overcooked 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One this August, and will now include online co-op play. WOOOO!!!Online play isn't the only new feature, though. There are new maps, new ways the stages will change and impede your cooking attempts, new recipes, more chefs from which to choose, and the ability to now throw things (which very much sounds like a mixed bag of fun). All-in-all, it's more Overcooked, which I'm 100% good with.Overcooked 2 will be available on August 7, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. All versions will support four player couch co-op, four player online co-op, or a mix of the two (i.e., "combo co-op") throughout the main campaign. The Nintendo Switch version will also support local wireless co-op play.

[E3 2018] - Earthfall Will Let You Blast Aliens Together In July

about X hours ago from

Among all the chaos and hubbub of E3, the folks over at Holospark dropped a new trailer for their first person alien blaster, Earthfall.  In case you've missed out on it until now, the title features four player online co-op and tasks its players with surviving an alien onslaught by using 3D-printed weaponry and portable defenses.Earthfall will see a full release on July 13th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.  It's been in Steam's Early Access program for some time, though, so it's not necessarily an unknown quantity.  While Steam's user rating system is notably fickle and subject to change, the game has currently garnered a "Mostly Positive" rating on the platform, which isn't easy for an Early Access title.I was a huge Left 4 Dead fan back in the day, and since Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has partially filled that Valve-shaped hole in my heart, I'm hopeful Earthfall will make me feel complete again.  It may be a bit too much pressure to place on Holospark's first game, but the studio's members claim a pretty diverse pedigree, with work ranging from Bioshock Infinite to Dawn of War III.  We'll find out out how well those experiences come together in just over a month.
