Wargroove Dated for Switch, PC, and Xbox One

about X hours ago from

First announced a year ago, Chucklefish's turn-based strategy game, Wargroove, will finally see the light of day in just a couple weeks... on the Switch, Xbox One, and PC, at least. The title is still coming to the PlayStation 4, but its release date is still TBD.When Wargroove was first shown, it was hard not to draw comparisons between its visual style and gameplay to a beloved RTS franchise that has been dormant for 10 years now - Advance Wars. On the official FAQ page, the developers give a nod to that series, but also emphasize that they are going beyond that. One of the differences they highlight (that is of particular interest to us) is the two to four player online or local multiplayer vis-à-vis the "Skirmish" mode. Like many RTS titles, Wargroove will let you and some buddies team up against A.I. opponents in some old fashioned "comp stomping." The game will also support cross-platform play across the PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, so you can play with friends regardless of where they decide to pick it up (no PlayStation 4, for now, so perhaps that's the reason for the delay there).

Unruly Heroes Now Available on PC, Switch, and Xbox One

about X hours ago from

Magic Design Studios' action/adventure platformer, Unruly Heroes, is now available on the PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. This retelling of the "Journey to the West" story lets players team up on a couch and play as Wukong the Monkey King, Sanzang the Sleepy Monk, Kihong the Greedy Pig, Sandmonk the Sensitive Brute as they search for the remnants of the Sacred Scroll.Visually, the Unruly Heroes is incredibly striking and reminds me of Ubisoft's Rayman Legends from 2013, which is absolutely fine by me. Much of the action in the launch trailer appears to be a mix of platforming and side-scrolling brawling, and while the single-player experience has you switching back and forth between the different heroes to traverse various obstacles, playing with friends means everyone's got something to do.Unruly Heroes is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Four player couch co-op is supported throughout the campaign. A PlayStation 4 version is planned for release at some point in the future.

Breach Stream Recap and Early Access Impressions

about X hours ago from

We've brought up QC Games' Breach a few times over the past couple months, and while the title has been accessible via a closed alpha for that time, last Thursday's Steam Early Access release opened the title up to a much wider audience. We dove in as part of our weekly "Let's Play Co-Op" stream and came a way with some highs and lows. The general consensus amongst Nick, Locke, Mike, and myself is that we all really like Breach and what it's doing, but it's very much a "wait and see" scenario. The overall gameplay is solid and it's going to be interesting to see the kinds of class hybrids people devise. Playing with a group of friends to clear a dungeon feels satisfying, particularly when you have those moments where you just manage to pull through. Most matches only last between 15 to 20 minutes, too, so it's easy enough to hop into one or two when you don't have a lot of time to play and, win or lose, you'll have some loot, in-game currency, and character progression to show for it.

Tropico 6's Release Date Has Been Pushed To March

Owning and running your own island empire is a pretty complex gig, especially when you're doing it with your favorite Co-Presidente.  As such, Tropico 6's publisher, Kalypso Media, has announced that the game's release date has been pushed back to March 29th of this year in order to ensure everything is in tip-top shape when it finds its way to the general public.More specifically, their recent blog post states a desire to implement community feedback for enhanced features, as well as "pathfinding, a challenging multiplayer and the comprehensive simulation not only of each individual Tropican, but of the whole economy".  It's obviously unfortunate that Tropico fans have to wait a couple more months for an all-new chance at tropical domination, but it sounds like the end product will be worth the wait.As a gesture of good will, anyone who had pre-ordered Tropico 6 by January 10th of this year will be getting the game's first DLC for the low, low price of zero bucks.  The DLC is currently planned for a Q2 2019 release, but the aforementioned delay may impact that slightly.
