Enjoy Classic Capcom Arcade Games in Your Home

about X hours ago from

Everybody's getting into the "classic games on a little box" game these days. Nintendo has the NES Classic and SNES Classic, Sega is releasing the Genesis Mini this Fall (we're waiting for the full list of games to be revealed so we know just how many co-op titles it will have), and last week, Capcom revealed that it's getting into the retro game market, too, with its "Capcom Home Arcade" console/controller.What you see in the composite image above is the console/controller (going counterclockwise from the top left) when viewed from the left-hand side of it, head on, from the right, and finally the list of games included on it. It comes in at a whopping 22 cm (8.7") by 74 cm (29"), so it's not exactly "mini." Then again, it also includes two "competition class Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT sticks with 8-way GT-Y directional gates" and eight OBSF buttons per side, so you need a little space for all that. The 16 arcade games pre-loaded into it are (all co-op titles are listed in bold):It's worth noting that all co-op titles are limited to two players only, even if the original arcade versions supported more.

Burnout Paradise Servers Shutting Down Later This Year

Burnout Paradise Servers Shutting Down Later This Year

Alas, after over a decade of uptime, Criterion Games has announced that they'll be shutting down the servers for Burnout Paradise later this year.  If you were planning on completing those last few challenges on your list or getting nostalgic with some friends, I'd recommend doing it soon.August 1st, 2019 is the specific date listed for shutdown, meaning Burnout Paradise's online capabilities will have run for eleven years and six months.  Considering how online games seem to disappear as quickly as they arrived these days, that's a triumphant feat.  Criterion's tweet offers a bit more detail:Burnout Paradise fans, after over 11.5 years of service, the servers for the original 2008 game will be closing on August 1st 2019. That affects Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions. Offline play will still be available of course, and Burnout Paradise Remastered servers are unaffected.

Infected Shelter, the four player co-op brawler / roguelite-RPG is getting ready to hit early access on Steam in just a few short weeks. To celebrate the impending release the team has sent us an exclusive look at the game in motion with two player co-op gameplay. The full game will support up to four players in couch co-op as they look to solve the mystery of who kidnapped their friends from the shelter in which they thought they were safe. Infected Shelter looks to have a unique style, with over the top violence, distinct characters (Grandpa and Granddaughter, Guitarist Girl, etc), and gameplay that feels like a cross between a beat em up and a side scrolling SHMUP.Here's how the team positions the game.

Ubisoft Giving Away Assassin's Creed Unity Following Notre Dame Fire

Following the fire this week at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris France, Ubisoft have pledged 500,000 Euros to its rebuilding along with giving away Assassin's Creed Unity, a game set in Paris France during the 1700's.The cathedral is a prominent landmark in the game and immediately following the fire the team at Ubisoft tweeted out their memories of studying the 900 year old building for the game's development. Unity was touted as a true co-op AC that featured a game designed from the ground up for four players - with co-op not just a separate mode of a play, but intermingled with the story as well. It turned out to still just be a limited set of content, but was fun none the less. Our review for the game was mixed, but overall, positive.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Super Ship Bros

The Co-Opticrew will be solving problems in a couple different ways this weekend.  Some of us are utilizing our thinkin' facilities and overcoming obstacles through the power of deduction.  Others, however, will be using their punchin' facilities and getting the job done through the power of... punchin'.  Whatever it takes, right?Said problems are presenting themselves on spooky sailing vessels, classic Nintendo stages, and the final frontier.  Check it out!Nick Puleo (@NickPuleo) - "Diving into Destiny 2 still, checking out World War Z."

More Co-Op Sniper Maps on the Way for Hitman 2

More Co-Op Sniper Maps on the Way for Hitman 2

The recent revamp of the Hitman series was a bold, new approach to a formula that had started to feel a little rote and stale. The sequel, Hitman 2, is, very much more of the same wacky stealth action as the 2016, but it also added a new co-op feature: co-op sniper maps. You and a buddy (online) could play as two other ICA agents - Stone and Knight - to take down three targets from afar. To date, there's only been one of these Co-Op Sniper Maps, but a new one was added a couple weeks ago and another one is on the way.The "Hantu Port" map was added to the game at the end of March for everyone that owns the Expansion Pass, which is available separately from the game and included in the "Gold Edition," or the "Silver Edition" of the title. Yeah, that sentence is probably a bit confusing. Basically, if you paid more than the $59.99 base price, you likely got the map. Going forward, though, you'll either need to have the Expansion Pass or the Gold Edition to get the next Sniper Map (titled "The Prison"), which is due out sometime this Fall. Presumably, IO Interactive will offer some kind of separate thing to purchase for the second expansion pack, but we'll see what happens. You can check out the IO Interactive blog post for more details.
