The upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will have additional character packs available after release as DLC. These packs were revealed as part of Nintendo’s E3 event but few details were provided, with the official webpage for the game stating that the game will feature “The Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the X-Men, and more!” However the post then goes on to outline that you can “Then expand your ultimate alliance with the paid Expansion Pass, which includes upcoming DLC content from popular franchises like the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Marvel Knights.”While the game is slated for a July 2019 release, details as to when the DLC will arrive or which members will be included are sparse. The only detail on the Nintendo listing notes that the first piece of DLC will arrive Fall 2019, though what is included is not featured at all. If you did not have a chance to catch Nintendo’s E3 show you can watch the trailer for the upcoming Marvel game below.
The studio behind the previous three Zombie Army games, Rebellion, has revealed their newest installment in the series at the PC showcase during E3 2019. Zombie Army 4: Dead War was announced through a stylized trailer that can be found below, followed by a gameplay reveal soon after, which can also be found below. The game has no specific release date but is currently slated to arrive early 2020 across Xbox One, Playstation 4, and the Epic Game Store. While the fourth entry in the series looks to have fan favorites from electric traps to flamethrowers (check out that sweet first trailer) the game also features 4-player co-op, upgrades, perks, and really crazy kill shots on the undead foes, which can be found at the 4:25 mark on the second video below. We reviewed the Zombie Army Trilogy saying “Zombie Army Trilogy is a solid title on its own, and cooperation between multiple players lightens the zombie load and eases some of the more challenging difficulty modes. Horde mode is a great time-waster when playing with friends in short bursts, but the most fun I had with the game came from the multiple lengthy Campaign episodes.” Our full review can be found here.
E3 news is coming hot and heavy this year, but between the waves of Keanu memes and screaming audience members, we also got a slew of new information on Daemon X Machina. The third person mech shooter entranced audiences when it was first revealed at E3 2018, but outside of some initial gameplay impressions, details on the title had been light.First and foremost, this year's presentation delivered a release date, which is September 13th, 2019. The accompanying trailer, which you can watch below, also showed off some snippets of story and gameplay footage, set to the riffiest of guitar riffs.Later on in the conference, Nintendo took a bit of time out of their continuous Treehouse coverage to dive a little deeper into what makes Daemon X Machina tick. Specifically, the game's four player online co-op got some attention.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition (henceforth abbreviated to FFCC Remaster because my typing skills don't need that much work) will be headed to the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS platforms sometime later this year. The game will still support four player co-op, but this time you'll have choice (on the consoles, at least). You can play with friends locally on the couch, or you can play online. The title was originally revealed during last year's TGS for the PS4 and Switch, but it wasn't known when it would be coming out. At the Square-Enix E3 press conference on Monday, they revealed the tentative release date (Winter 2020) and two new platforms: Android and iOS. If you didn't play the original, it was a pretty fun action-RPG where you set out from a central town to gather a valuable resource (myrrh) from various dungeons.
Monday night, Polish developer People Can Fly made their return to the gaming world after what's felt like a long-time silent. After getting acquired by Epic Games, then splitting from them after the release of Gears of War: Judgment, we haven't heard much from them other than the Bulletstorm remaster. At the Square-Enix E3 press conference, they debuted their game: Outriders, a "co-op shooter set in an original, dark and desperate sci-fi universe." Based on the trailer alone (because that's all we've got right now), this is looking like a very interesting game. What little we know about this game is that Earth is doomed (of course) and so different expeditions have been sent out to try and find a new place to live. One such place is a world called Enoch (hey, I know that guy!) The ship sent to investigate the planet further crashes and, well, things don't look very good there. The three characters you see in that trailer are, presumably, the ones you and your buddies will be able to play via the drop-in/drop-out co-op. Not much else to go on for right now, but I'm definitely intrigued.
In a surprising announcement this week, Funcom revealed that Conan Chop Chop - a game that was teased on April's Fools Day - will be arriving to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch on September 3, 2019. This may be one of the more inventive marketing tactics I've seen in a while as that initial reveal was taken, understandably, to be a joke. However, it seems that that was all part of the plan as Australian developer Mighty Kingdom has been working on this for a little while and they've done their best to keep it under wraps. The game is a "roguelike hack-and-slash" game that features four player couch co-op, randomized levels, loot, bosses, and combos. You and your buddies will be able to play as stick-figure representations of the Hyborian heroes Conan, Pallantides, Valeria, and Bêlit as you take on the forces of Thoth-Amon and try to stop him from resurrecting the evil wizard Xaltotun. It's quirky, weird, but also strangely appealing?Conan Chop Chop will be out on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on September 3. Up to four players can team up together on one couch to take down Thoth-Amon.
This week, Crystal Dynamics and Square-Enix finally pulled back the curtain on their upcoming Marvel's Avengers game... sort of. During Square-Enix's Monday night press conference, some time was spent to talk around the title a whole bunch without saying much of anything really substantive. The few details we got from it all is that it will have four player online co-op, it looks like a third-person action game, there are plans in place for continued content updates after its release (it sounds like it may be similar to Destiny or Anthem), and it'll be out May 15, 2020.The biggest information to come out of that whole conference was the story setup, as shown in the video below. The Avengers are in San Francisco to christen their new headquarters, then some things go bad and then go even worse. The entire incident becomes known as "A-Day" and the Avengers disband as a result. Five years later, Super Heroes are outlawed, the world is in peril, so guess what? Yep! The band is getting back together again! Woo!
