Warface Has A New Co-Op Campaign

about X hours ago from

Warface, the long-standing co-op shooter, has just released a brand new campaign for you and up to four other tactical aficionados to test your collective expertise.  This time around, though, players won't be blasting their way through the standard fare of Earth-based mercenaries and ne'er-do-wells.  Instead, they'll commuting from their bedrooms or living rooms all the way to Mars.Players will also eschew their pitiful human bodies in favor of the mechanical SEDs, humanoid robots each armed with an Arcus.  This new modular weapon has three unique firing modes and won't require ammunition, but it will need to be carefully monitored to prevent overheating.  Take a look at the trailer to see the Arcus in action:Developer Blackwood Games has also touted the obvious shift to Martian gravity, as well as stealth missions which "reward team cooperation".  Just to make sure things are never too easy on players, three new bosses will be encountered on the red planet:  mining droids armed with machine guns, spider mines which relentlessly track their target, and a huge final boss fought on a scale never seen before in a Warface campaign.

Enjoy a Free Preview of Childern of Morta Until Saturday

about X hours ago from

Four years ago, the development team at Dead Mage held a successful Kickstarter campaign for their action-RPG, Children of Morta. There's been a lot of work done on the title since then and if you're interested in checking it out before its impending release this Summer, then you've got 72 hours to get a free preview. The preview started today around 11:00 AM EDT and it'll go until the same time on Saturday; it's also only through Steam, so you're limited to the PC version. However, this limited demo does have enough in there to give you a good taste of what more is in store. You'll be able to play as two of the family members - John, the father, and the eldest daughter, Linda. Each of them has their own weapon and playstyle so you can see what works best for you and your co-op buddy as you play up to the first boss. This is one of those games where it's best to see it in action, so be sure to watch the video below, and you can also check out our interview with the dev team from five years ago where they first laid out their vision and hopes for this title.Children of Morta will be released sometime this Summer for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Two player couch co-op will be supported through the campaign.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Will Be Released Outside of Japan Next Year

about X hours ago from

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy... remember seven years ago when Sega said they'd bring their action-RPG MMO Phantasy Star Online 2 to the U.S.? Well, guess what?! They were telling the truth! ... Eventually! Amid all the other news coming out last week during E3 2019, the one bit that was perhaps the most surprising was that this F2P game would be making its way to the Xbox One and Windows 10 sometime "Spring 2020."If you're unfamiliar with the the title, PSO2 is the successor to the very popular Phantasy Star Online that debuted on the Dreamcast back in 2000. That title actually impacted modern gaming in such a way that it inspired an entire franchise (Monster Hunter) and several other multiplayer, action-oriented dungeon crawlers. So, just mentioning something like Monster Hunter in the same breath as PSO2 should give you some idea of what to expect from a gameplay perspective. You'll take on missions, fight monsters, get loot, do it all again. You can team up with 11 other players online to battle those big baddies and it'll all be free, with an option to pay for certain things (my guess is cosmetics and things like XP/gold boosts). Here's what Sega said in the official press release:

about X hours ago from

Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's The Division 2 has been out for just over three months and, in contrast to the original game, Ubisoft is releasing new content right out of the gate to ensure things stay fresh for players.  An eight player raid is already in effect, along with a smaller free content update, and more will be coming over the next year.A recent blog post outlined just what players can expect from the next three free expansions.  Let's take a look at the trailer first, and then we'll dive into some more specifics.First up in the release calendar is "D.C. Outskirts", which takes squads outside the city to hunt for particularly powerful kneepads in the surrounding woodlands, as well as the National Zoo.  The expansion releases in July and will introduce the brand new Expedition Mode, wherein players take on cooperative weekly challenges as they battle their way through Trinity College.

Torchlight II Officially Headed to Consoles This September

about X hours ago from

We heard a couple months ago that the hit 2012 action-RPG Torchlight II would be making its way to modern consoles at some point, and last week we finally got a date. Gather your friends and play as the Embermage, Engineer, Berserker, or Outlander on September 3, 2019.We're still short on details about how many players will be supported in the game, though it does seem like it will be limited to online only (or via wireless LAN for the Switch version). Sorry, no couch co-op in this port. The video announcement shows two "players" chatting and playing together, but that doesn't mean that it'll be bumped down to that. For now, we're putting it as four in our database and will be sure to get that updated once the official number is put out there.Torchlight II will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on September 3, 2019. It is currently available on the PC.

about X hours ago from

E3 2019 may be over and done, but there are still a few news bits left to cover! The next Animal Crossing game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, was finally revealed during Nintendo's E3 Direct last week, and during their Treehouse Live following that reveal, they showed off a bit of how the game looks/plays. As part of that demonstration, they also announced that there would be a lot of ways to play the game with friends and family. There are a number of co-op details that weren't made clear during the course of this demonstration (such as how you invite people to your island, what other players can do there, if online players can access the island when you're not around, etc), but here's a quick rundown of the few bits of information they gave, which starts around the 15:00 mark in the video below:Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020.
