Our Weekend In Gaming: Same Old, Same Old

Well, well, well, if it isn't the ol' Co-Opticrew up to their usual weekend antics.  You try to trust them, right?  You try to give them some space and assume they won't all hop back into their comfort games, and just look what happens.  I, for one, feel like a danged fool, but I'll let it slide this one time.  I've placed the culprits on notice, though, and if this happens for a second consecutive weekend, they can be prepared for some very strongly worded letters. Those on staff who decided to branch out a bit will be translating dead languages, playing card games in disguise, and dismembering kombatants.  Check it out!Nick Puleo (@NickPuleo) - "Destiny 2 and jumping back into Borderlands 2 in anticipation of our Monday stream."

The Blackout Club Launches Next Month

The Blackout Club Launches Next Month

After 8 months since it first entered Early Access, Question's The Blackout Club will see a full release at the end of next month. Soon you and your friends will be able to team up online and try to solve the mysterious disappearances in your hometown while also attempting to avoid getting snatched yourselves. We spent a little time last Fall playing the title in its new Early Access state and came away impressed. The main gameplay focus is to sneak around an area and accomplish some objective while avoiding being caught by adults that are under the influence of a mysterious "boogeyman," called Angel. Avoiding the adults is easy, the tough (and scary) part comes when Angel steps onto the field and you cannot see him/it unless you close your eyes. The idea of "horror" in a co-op game can be tough to pull off as you'll always have some buddy in your ear saying something that sucks all the scare out of a moment, but The Blackout Club does a really great job of ramping up that tension and anxiety so it's felt by everyone. The Blackout Club will be available as a full release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on July 30, 2019. Four player drop-in/drop-out co-op is supported throughout the story. You can also pick it up now in Early Access for 20% off as part of the Steam Summer Sale.

Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Launches With The Help Of A New Trailer

about X hours ago from

Koji Igarashi himself has returned from atop his otherworldly spire to bless us, the pitiful gaming rabble, with a brand new "Igavania" title.  Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been hotly anticipated since its massive Kickstarter run back in 2015, and while companion title Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon satiated that hunger for a time, it was still considered an (extremely competent) appetizer. The main course has now arrived on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, but it's currently missing a pretty key ingredient.  As the launch trailer mentions, Ritual of the Night will receive thirteen post-launch DLC packs for free, and among these is two player online and local co-op.  It's certainly a bummer to not be able to play the game with a friend at launch, but at least we know the mode is coming.  Take a look at the game's current and future content below:No word yet on exactly when cooperative play will be available, but we'll be keeping an eye out for any details. If you're not familiar with Igarashi's previous work, just know that Ritual of the Night hews very closely to his famed Castlevania series, which focuses on exploration, platforming, and action-RPG combat.  If any of these sound up your alley, the game is definitely worth looking into.

The Digital Adaptation of Gloomhaven Arrives in Early Access Soon

about X hours ago from

Looking for a way to enjoy a popular board game without having to worry about painting a bunch of figures and coordinating a time when three of your friends can come over for a whole afternoon? You're in luck! Gloomhaven, a digital adaptation of the game developed by Flaming Fowl Studios and published by Asmodee Digital, is arriving in Steam Early Access on July 17.This version of the title has been in development for some time, but it wasn't until recently that the devs confirmed there would be co-op in this dungeon-crawling, tactical RPG. The way it works is that the host will invite other players into their game and assign one character to each player (four players max in one game). If you don't have enough players for all your characters, then the host will control the remaining ones. It's worth noting that while there is character progression in some of the game modes, all of this will be tied to the host's account; you are going on an adventure after all.You can check out the first four characters that will be included in the game when it hits Early Access in a few weeks' time in the new trailer below.

Kaliber HVER PRO RGB Keyboard Review

Kaliber HVER PRO RGB Keyboard Review

Each piece of gaming hardware can greatly alter the experience of the game being played. A faulty headset and the whole team feels the impact when you fail to communicate danger in time; a lackluster mouse and your interaction with the world through selection or direction can become more of a hurdle than it should be; and with a subpar keyboard the entire experience can be slammed to a halt, no matter the game. Thankfully, Kaliber’s HVER PRO RGB Keyboard does a great job whether it’s under the pressure that comes from the heat of a game or writing this very review. My time with the HVER PRO started simply with some writing just to get a feel for the hardware. I found myself acclimating very quickly to this keyboard even though it sits slightly higher than the non-mechanical one it was replacing. The keys are large enough that I never had to think about where they were in relation to where my hands felt they should be, so I soon found myself typing away at the same speed that I normally work. Now that I was warmed up it was time to move into the real use for a gaming keyboard: video games.

Destiny 2: Season of Opulence Stream Recap and Impressions

about X hours ago from

The final bit of content for Year 2 of Destiny 2 dropped a few weeks ago: the Season of Opulence. The big attraction this time around for all Annual Pass holders is the new six-player matchmade activity, The Menagerie. This "raid-lite" experience challenges your fireteam to progress through a series of objectives before facing a boss at the end. All of that is pretty fun, but it gets better: your rewards for completing all this is to "choose your own loot."

Our Weekend In Gaming: Pocket-Based Monsters

Our Weekend In Gaming: Pocket-Based Monsters

The Co-Opticrew is getting into the weeds this weekend with one goal in mind: filling our Pokedexes and making our rivals look like straight-up fools.  Given our otherworldly ability to name our rivals literally anything we want, I doubt the first task will take too long.  The Pokedex, on the other hand, may take some doin', but if it gives us a chance to spend hours floating around on the head of an actual ghost, I'm all for it.Those of us who aren't enslaving innocent creatures this weekend will be painting fantasy sports teams, dating horrifying creatures, and reliving the tale of the Master Chief.  Check it out!Nick Puleo (@NickPuleo) - "Maybe some Destiny 2. I've been gettting an RPG itch though I may need to scratch."
