New Dev Diary Focuses on Co-Op of We Were Here Together

about X hours ago from

Total Mayhem Games has kicked off a four part developer diary series that's focused on how they approached the overall co-op experience for We Were Here Together. It's not often we get to hear this much from a developer about how they set about making a game that is cooperative through and through. As I mentioned during our stream recap/impressions of the title, I've always been a fan of the We Were Here series. The puzzles are fun and definitely have co-op in mind when it comes to solving them, which is entirely the point. By presenting players with different perspectives of the same world it engenders this natural sort of desire to share that experience with others. Successfully communicating that perspective with your buddy and then working together to solve something is icing on the cake, and not to be lightly dismissed (there's an entire game that, in part, revolves around our inability to successfully communicate with one another). We Were Here Together is available now on PC via Steam. Two player online co-op is supported and required for the campaign.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep Festival of the Lost and Pit of Heresy Stream Recap

about X hours ago from

As you've probably seen from our past few "Weekend in Gaming" posts, many of us can't get enough of the Shadowkeep expansion for Destiny 2. Last week, Bungie kicked off the annual "Festival of the Lost," which is basically the in-game version of Halloween, as well as the new three player dungeon, "Pit of Heresy." We decided to hop into both of these to get into the spooky spirit... a few days after Halloween. Our full stream was almost 2 hours long, so I've split it up into a few different segments. The first is Mike, Nick, and myself attempting to make our way through nine branches of the "Haunted Forest" as we discuss what the Festival of the Lost event is and how, theoretically, you could make it through nine branches.Once we were done there, Locke, Nick, and myself headed off to the new three player dungeon, the Pit of Heresy. Dungeons are essentially mini-raids that have unique mechanics and encounters. If you can't get six people together to tackle the Last Wish or Garden of Salvation raid, dungeons can provide you with the same level of challenge, albeit without the unique loot you see in those raids.

[BlizzCon 2019] - Diablo IV Invites You to "Return to Darkness"

about X hours ago from

While the first bit of co-op news out of this year's BlizzCon was on the cheerier side, the second bit is definitely not. Diablo IV is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and... I'd say Blizzard got the "feedback" about Diablo III's art direction/style.Warning: The cinematic reveal trailer below contains graphic violence and gore. Putting this disclaimer here just in case the age gate doesn't pop up.Things are not good in the world of Sanctuary. After the events of Diablo III, the realm has fallen into chaos for reasons and amidst all of that, some folks decided it would be a good idea to summon Lilith - daughter of Mephisto (Lord of Hatred) and one of the two beings (the other is an angel) that is responsible for the creation of Sanctuary. She is not... a friendly mother. Based on the cinematic reveal trailer, too, it seems that Blizzard has decided that Diablo definitely needs to be more "grim dark" than it was.

about X hours ago from

Blizzard held its annual convention, aka BlizzCon, this past weekend and had a couple big co-op announcements. The first of these is Overwatch 2, which will be heading to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime in the future. While there are some visual and gameplay tweaks, the part we're most interested in are the new PvE Story and Hero missions. Here's how Blizzard describes these cooperative undertakings:Story Missions

Extra Life Game Day is Saturday

about X hours ago from

Can you think of a better way to spend your Saturday than playing co-op games all day and raising donations to heal sick kids? If not, then ditch whatever you had planned for this Saturday (11/2) and sign up for Extra Life! It's a fun way to do what you love and raise donations for a great cause. All donations to Extra Life go straight to the hospital you choose during registration.Of course, you don't need to devote all 24 hours to gaming, and you can pick any day(s) that you want. This weekend is the official Game Day, so it's a great time to kick back, relax, and celebrate all the donations we raise for kids at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. If you can't join us for this awesome event, you can always donate on one of our pages. We'd also love to have some company while we play games. We'll be streaming on our Twitch channel where you can watch us and chat with us. We'll be streaming from 7AM CDT through 6AM CST. That's right, once again Extra Life spans the end of daylight savings time, so we'll get to experience 2AM twice and be all confused about how long we've actually been playing.

New Minecraft Dungeons Dev Video Shows Direction

about X hours ago from

Minecraft Dungeons is set for a 2020 release and, with 2019 coming to a close, we have finally been given a small taste as to what next year’s title will bring. In the new developer’s video log the team at Mojang laid out the direction of the upcoming Action-RPG, explaining that players will equip items to alter their character’s abilities, use enchantments to alter items, and more. Feel free to check out the nearly five minute video in full below! While little and less has been said about what will be seen in the game when Minecraft Dungeons launches, the video below shows what appear to be lots of co-op spread throughout as well as unfamiliar Minecraft weapons (3:12 mark) and the developer’s drive to expand Minecraft from a sole game to a universe spanning across different genres - something rarely seen in games without even a single sequel.Have you been waiting for Minecraft to leap across genres, or is the sole entry been enough for you?
