First DLC for Borderlands 3 Arrives December 19

about X hours ago from

A couple days ago, Gearbox revealed the first DLC for Borderlands 3. Titled "Moxxi's Heist of The Handsome Jackpot," players will be recruited by Moxxi to break into an abandoned casino that was built by Handsome Jack back when he was 1) alive, and 2) President of the Hyperion corporation. Your goal is to break into the core of the casino and take over (anyone want to bet that it'll be turned into a Moxxi-themed casino when you do?)The DLC was revealed during the third "Borderlands Show" hosted by Greg Miller and Fran Mirabella of Kinda Funny Games, and they were joined this time by Gearbox Studio Head Randy Pitchford to discuss all the details (which starts at the 33:00 mark in the video). The content itself is geared towards players that have progressed far enough along in the campaign to reach Sanctuary III and are at least level 13. Enemies will scale based on player level, of course, so if you're already at level 50 and strolling through Mayhem 4, you'll still be challenged by the foes in this new content. There will be new loot to chase in the casino and new characters to meet. Gearbox is currently stating that the average playtime for this content is around 8 hours, so it's certainly a beefy update. More details will be revealed as that December 19 date gets closer.

Torchlight Frontiers Delayed to 2020

We're quickly approaching the end of 2019, and in case you forgot (I know I did), Echtra Games' Torchlight Frontiers was slated for a 2019 release date. Yeah, that's not happening. At this past weekend's ExileCon, Steven Messner from PC Gamer had a chance to talk with Max Schaefer, the studio's founder and the co-creator of Torchlight and Diablo. In the course of that conversation, Max stated that the game "wouldn't be releasing in the 2019 time frame that was indicated two and a half years ago."Max went on to say:... We don't have really specific things to say. We're doing some changes to the game right now that is kind of hard to pin down. We don't really have better information to give yet. So that's kind of why we've been waiting. But obviously it's not going to make it right away. It's plugging along and it's getting better every day. And we're really excited about it. It's just we're kind of waiting for the right time to like, come out with another big news dump about what's going on.

The latest patch/content update has arrived for Borderlands 3, and it brings with it a new four player co-op mission ("Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite"), a new Mayhem Mode level (level 4), an expansion to the bank, dedicated loot pools for bosses, and a variety of tweaks/balance changes. The full breakdown can be found on the official site, but here are a few, quick, "big ticket" items:For all you folks out there that are curious about trying Borderlands 3, it's currently available for free on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This will only last until Sunday, November 24, although the game is on sale during this time if you wanted to pick it up at a discount.

Path of Exile 2 Announced, Will Be Added Onto Path of Exile

about X hours ago from

At this past weekend's ExileCon - the annual convention put on by Grinding Gear Games for all the Path of Exile fans out there - the developers revealed there new projects related to their long-running action-RPG. The first of these is Path of Exile 2, though the name is a bit of a misnomer; it's not a full-fledged sequel, but rather a kind of revamp of the existing game that includes a new seven-act storyline. It is not, at this time, launching separately from the Path of Exile game, but instead will be included as a kind of update to it.

Blue Yeti X Review

Blue Yeti X Review

While there are no shortage of quality headsets and microphones to use while gaming these days, it can be a daunting task to jump from the "general gamer" to "aspiring streamer"; or in my case to "I have to professionally represent a website and sound somewhat respectable". There are quite a few products on the market for this particular niche, and Blue was kind enough to send us their new Yeti X for evaluation.

Sparklite Now Available on Consoles and PC

about X hours ago from

Red Blue Games' Sparklite is now available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. The game is touted as an action-adventure title with rogue-lite elements, which are all fairly accurate descriptors based on my time with it thus far. Two player couch co-op is supported in the game, but it's worth noting that the second player is (literally) relegated to a "helper bot" role. The setup to Sparklite is that Ada (our heroine) is on her way somewhere in a ship when she's suddenly attacked and crash lands in the realm of Geodia. She quickly learns that "there's a doings a transpirin'!" and sets out on an adventure to help the inhabitants restore their world. There's definitely some Legend of Zelda inspiration at work in the overall gameplay (you "hack-and-slash" with a wrench, you'll get gadgets that let you progress to new areas) and the only discernible "rogue-lite" element I've seen is that the world reconfigures itself each time you die.

Halo: Reach Will Be Added to Master Chief Collection on December 3

Back in March, we reported that Halo: Reach would be added to the Halo: The Master Chief Collection sometime this year. With just a few weeks left, 343 Industries is fulfilling that promise and Halo: Reach will arrive on the PC and Xbox One on December 3, 2019. On the PC side, this marks the first Master Chief Collection title to arrive on that platform, with the other games in that bundle arriving over the course of the next year.Things will be handled a little differently based on platform, so we're breaking this out from here on out.On Xbox One

[XO19] - Get Smol and Survive in Grounded

about X hours ago from

The other co-op game that was announced/revealed during Microsoft's XO19 was a bit of a surprise, considering the developer. Obsidian, who just released the popular The Outer Worlds RPG, is shifting gears a bit with their next title, Grounded - a game where you have to survive in a backyard after being shrunk to the size of an ant. I mean, I guess every other iteration of a survival game has been done at this point?Similar to Drake Hollow, there aren't a ton of details available just yet about this game. Four player co-op (we're presuming online) is confirmed in various marketing materials, but beyond that, the only other info being put out there revolves around the title's ecosystem. Apparently the insect life will behave like real-life insects (e.g., ant colonies send out scouts to find food) and different bugs (spiders) come out at night. The title will initially enter "early access" this Spring as part of the Xbox Game Preview program (and Steam Early Access), so development will be ongoing and incorporate community feedback before it hits a "full release."Grounded will be available on Xbox One and PC this Spring.
