MechWarrior 5 Co-Op Stream Recap and Impressions

about X hours ago from

November 7th, 2002 was the last time a full fledged single-player and co-op MechWarrior experience was released. 17 years later we've finally been graced with MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and the crew at Co-Optimus strapped in to our favorite metal beast for some good ol' metal-on-metal action.MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries comes from developer Pirahana Games, makers of MechWarrior Online. Yes, they are no strangers to the IP so hopes were high they could translate the experience into something BattleTech fans have been craving. Did they deliver? Mostly...The campaign delivers an experience not too far off of the 2018 RTS BattleTech game by Harebrained. You are put in charge of a group of mercenary MechWarriors and tasked with completing missions for C-Bills, building up your squad, and running a successful business. Along the way you'll need to purchase from the list of almost 50 available Mech's, upgrade, tweak, and balance their loadouts to complete one of the randomized missions, and of course minimize damages to maximize profits.

Trine 4 Gets Free DLC

about X hours ago from

A couple days ago, Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince got its first bit of DLC, and it is free on all platforms. "Toby's Dream" sees our protagonists delving into the dreamworld of the Toby the dog, who Frozenbyte fans may recognize from the developer's previous co-op title, Nine Parchments. This definitely falls in the realm of "just have some silly fun." Your whole objective in the DLC is to help Toby get all the treats that are hidden within his dreams. In order to access this content, you'll have to progress complete the "Prince's Dream" level in the campaign, and then you should see "Toby's Dream" on the level selection map. Sadly, it does not appear you'll actually be able to pet the pup, so... set your expectations appropriately.Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. Four player co-op is supported throughout the campaign.

PlayStation 4 Version of Minecraft Now Supports Cross-Platform Play

about X hours ago from

Earlier this week, the PlayStation 4 version of the popular building-sim, Minecraft, finally got the Bedrock Update. That update made its way around all other versions of the game so that all of them could play together; the PS4 version of the game was the one notable exception. With that update, everybody can play Minecraft on all platforms where it's available and have their progress carry over. There is a long history here for why Sony was the last hold out with this, but all that needs to be said is that it doesn't matter now and you can go play Minecraft with your friends regardless of their preferred platform; just as you and so many others have been asking for so long. This update also comes on the heels of the new version of "Minecraft Realms," now called "Minecraft Realms Plus." The "Realms" subscription service allowed you to create your own private server for you and your friends for a monthly fee. That (both the private server and the monthly fee) is still a part of "Realms Plus," but now you also get stuff from the Minecraft Marketplace for free, which I suppose is a better deal than before. Additional details can be found over on the official site.

Darksiders: Genesis Stream Recap and Impressions

about X hours ago from

The Darksiders franchise got a new entry last week on the PC (console version is coming February 2020) with Darksiders: Genesis, an isometric, twin-stick shooter-ish, action/adventure game. While the gameplay has changed a bit from the previous third-person action titles, there's a lot that's familiar and the new format works. Best of all, you can play with a buddy online or on the couch!Genesis takes place sometime before the events of the first game and introduces the fourth Horsemen, Strife, a gun-wielding wise-cracker. The general setup is that Strife and his brother War (protagonist of the first Darksiders game) are tasked by the enigmatic Charred Council to help "maintain the balance" by figuring out what ole Lucifer is up to and why he's empowering some demons. That's tipping the scales, Luci! So Strife and War set out to talk to Samael and see what he knows; thus, the stage is set and you'll progress through 16 more levels to unravel the mysteries.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’s First Season Is Upon Us

With the release of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare being oh so long ago now, it seems due time for a pile of content - and oh what a pile of content it is. The first season of free content kicked off this week with a seasonal Battle Pass (which includes a free and premium track), four new multiplayer maps, two new weapons (RAM-7 assault rifle and Holger-26 LMG), a new multiplayer mode (Reinforce), two classic Special Ops experiences, and one new Special Ops experience. Here are the Special Ops experiences that have been added with Tuesday’s update:While this may sound like a lot of content, let me take a moment to assure you, as a fellow Call of Duty: Modern Warfare player, it is; and there is even more to come. The Season One news post on Activision’s site includes two more Special Ops experiences, two more multiplayer maps, and two more multiplayer modes. It also states, “that some of this content may drop later than the Season One start date of December 3, and additional content may be added to Season One.”

Rebellion Purchases The Bitmap Brothers’ Portfolio

Rebellion, the studio behind Strange Brigade and the Sniper Elite series, has acquired the game portfolio of The Bitmap Brothers, a British game development studio with titles dating back to the 90’s, like The Chaos Engine, Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe, and Gods. Titles in this acquisition will likely be receiving sequels or remasters, as Rebellion has expressed their appreciation of the games’ legacy as well as their intention to move forward with their newly acquired intellectual properties. In a statement about the purchase, Rebellion co-founder and CEO, Jason Kingsley said that, "The Bitmap Brothers are renowned for making great games and for bringing gaming into the mainstream with inimitable style. We've known Mike Montgomery for many years, and we're honoured by the faith and trust that he has shown in us by passing on the torch. We'll strive to be vigilant custodians of one of gaming's great names." Do you think Rebellion can continue the legacy The Bitmap Brothers’ games carry, or is it better to let sleeping games lie? Invite A Friend to Play Man of Medan With You For Free

Back in August, Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco released the first entry in their interactive survival/horror Dark Pictures Anthology series, Man of Medan. The title allows you and some friends (either locally or online) to assume the role of different characters as they set out on a three-hour tour, only for things to go very wrong. Now, for a limited time, if you've bought the game (or plan on buying it), but don't have any local friends with whom you can play it, you can use a free "Friend's Pass" to invite a friend to join you for a complete playthrough online.Between now and sometime "early-to-mid January," if you own Man of Medan on any platform, or if you buy it, you'll get a "Friend's Pass" that you can use to invite an online friend to join you for a complete playthrough of the "Shared Story" mode. In this mode, each of you will alternate between the five main characters and make choices as those characters that will affect the story that plays out. It's worth noting a few things with this pass, though:
