Borderlands 3 Available on Steam Today, Spring Roadmap

about X hours ago from

At PAX East a few weeks ago, Gearbox had some news to share about their popular loot-shooter, Borderlands 3. The six month Epic Games Store exclusivity deal comes to an end today so you can now purchase the title on Steam (yes, purchase; owning it on Epic does not get you the Steam version). It's worth noting that the game will support PC cross-play between the Steam and Epic Games Store versions, and you can transfer saves between the two but it's a manual process. Additional details can be found in the official FAQ.

New Screens Available For Spelunky 2

According to a recent post on the PlayStation Blog, Derek Yu and team are still hard at work on Spelunky 2, their follow-up to the extremely popular roguelike platformer, Spelunky.  In short, the update reiterates that they're adding more variety to the game in the hopes of giving us all new ways to di-... er, interact with the levels.Details on specific mechanics (and a release date) remain scant, but we were fortunate enough to see multiple new screen shots of the game in action.Spelunky 2 certainly remains recognizable to fans of the original, but even at a glance, you can tell the extra depth being added to the sequel.

Out of Space Co-Op Stream Recap

about X hours ago from

Locke and Nick take have take to the stars to live out their dream of moving out of the basement and into their own place. Unfortunately they couldn't afford a classy space apartment and instead have to deal with an infestation of dirty aliens while remembering to provide all the comforts of life - like a microwave. This is Out of Space, a four player co-op puzzle like game where your job is to clean a room, power it up, and provide the basics of living like a bed, microwave and fridge. Sounds easy, that is until the dirtiest slug aliens since Jabba the Hutt forgot to bath that one week in college show up and ruin the party. It's with this that you and your roommates must work together to sweep, mop, and recycle the garbage and aliens, earning you cash to upgrade your apartment with purchases from space Amazon. If this all sounds bizarre and simple, it's both and not at the same time. Did I mention the player characters are animals? And that if you sweep to hard you'll spontaneously fall asleep?

about X hours ago from

In case you have been away from the battlefronts in Warhammer: Vermintide 2 for a spell, the war continues to rage on against the forces of grotesque evil. This battle has now expanded onto the second free Drachenfels map - Blood in the Darkness. The official word from developer Fat Shark states,  “In the new free map to Warhammer: Vermintide 2, the merry band of heroes commonly known as the Ubersreik Five are on their way towards the castle but are faced with unexpected challenges. The hostile environment appears to be even darker than ever.“ This update is available now across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.While a new map is always welcome news, and you can’t beat the price of free, this content may not appeal to all players. As such, the official word from Fat Shark goes on to say that: “Shopkeeper Lohner has used his fine-tuned fashion sense to order new goods to his store, and the Lohner's Emporium of Wonders has never carried this many on-fleek items. Open 24-7.” so if you’re interested in fancy-ing up the front, now may be just your time to shine. Will we see you exploring the corners of the new map, or are you quite alright holding the forces of evil on the current maps? State Of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition Announced

PC players who are fans of zombies, rejoice! State of Decay 2, a game you may have had to skip due to it being limited to Xbox One and the Windows game store, is coming to Steam on March 13. Furthermore, the title is also being updated into the Juggernaut Edition, which will bring all 3 add-on packs, additional content, and a number of quality of life improvements ranging from improved controls to bug fixes. The best part is that if you already have State of Decay 2 (whether you bought it or are playing it through Game Pass), your game will automatically become the Juggernaut Edition this Friday.Seeing games reach new platforms and continuing to evolve with time is part of the fun with games as a medium. As such, while the original State of Decay featured no co-op whatsoever, we did enjoy the co-op in the sequel, stating in our review that; “It simply hits all the right notes and keeps players coming back for the slow steady progression and survival intricacies within its gameplay. Co-op shines, bringing out the fun factor, creating those had to be there moments like players opening car doors to hit zombies while cruising around town.” you just can’t get much better than that. Will this new edition bring you out to play with the infected, or will you be staying inside to avoid the zombies? Let us know in the comments below!

Our Weekend In Gaming: Crime Time

The Co-Opticrew is dipping a toe into some morally grey areas this weekend (just to see how it feels, of course).  Our intentions are thoroughly journalistic, but I suppose we can't help but keep our digital, ill-gotten gains.  Will this serve as a gateway experience into deeper, darker flights of fancy, or will the pressure of doing something really mean scare us back into lawfulness?  Find out next week on another exciting episode of "Our Weekend In Gaming"!We won't all be breaking the law this weekend, though.  Some staff members will be fighting intergalactic evil, rising and grinding, building slick new computers.  Check it out!Nick Puleo (@NickPuleo) - "I might dive back into Destiny 2. Wolcen is likely on the docket too."

Get Pumped With Baldur's Gate 3's Opening Cinematic And Gameplay Reveal

about X hours ago from

Things are both going down and getting real in the Forgotten Realms.  Larian Studios, developer of Baldur's Gate 3, has been drip-feeding us information on their CRPG ahead of its release this year.  As expected, that slow drip picked up quite a bit of speed when gameplay was revealed at PAX East about a week ago, and accompanying it was a slick, heart-thumping opening cinematic.A powerful race of psionic creatures known as Illithids will be the primary foe in BG3, and both their strength and ambition are on full display at the beginning of the game.  I'll let you get a taste for yourself in the video below, but be prepared for a bit of an... uh, eye-opener.Larian is using the all-new Divinity 4.0 engine to bring the Forgotten Realms to life, so while gameplay obviously won't look exactly like the cinematic, it does look extremely crisp.  The folks over at IGN have a solid amount of said gameplay over on their YouTube channel, which can be found below.  I'd recommend skipping ahead to the 26-minute mark to get to the good stuff.
