Torchlight III's Sharpshooter Class Has Been Revealed

about X hours ago from

Torchlight III, previously known under the moniker Torchlight Frontiers, recently pivoted away from its MMO-style goals and back toward an experience more akin to its predecessors.  The game's headed for release this summer and, in light of that, developer Echtra Games is shedding more light on its inner workings.First and foremost, they've delved into the hero classes with a new trailer focused on the Sharpshooter.  Per the game's website, the Sharpshooter "is cunning and willing to bend the rules in order to survive the hordes of creatures running rampant in each of the game’s diverse biomes."  I'll admit, I'm curious to know how bending the rules plays into things, unless one of Torchlight III's main rules is "no guns allowed".While Torchlight III may no longer be deviating from its Diablo-like roots, the formula it's using is tried and true, so it's likely to be an enjoyable experience nonetheless.  Hopefully, pivoting from the game's original direction has still left Echtra with the ability to sprinkle in a few twists, but time will tell.

Crossplay Is Now Available For World War Z

Crossplay Is Now Available For World War Z

In case you haven't had your fill of global pandemics, World War Z is certainly one of the better ways you can stay at home while still spending time with friends.  Based on the book (and movie) of the same name, it features all kinds of ways for you to hunker down and slaughter hordes of the non-living.On top of that, it's now been updated with a patch allowing crossplay between PC and Xbox One.  Your pals on the PlayStation 4 have been left in the cold for the time being, but they'll be joining up in the future.  The patch, which arrived earlier this month, also added a few other goodies to mix.  A new mission objective, titled "Virus Sample", offers a chance at better end-of-level rewards if players can carry a virus sample canister all the way through a level.  You'll have to be careful, though, as it applies increasingly negative effects to you the longer you hold on to it.New weapon variants have also been added, such as a fully automatic machine pistol and an incendiary grenade option for the grenade launcher.  On the paid DLC side of things, four new character skins are now available for purchase as part of the "War Heroes" skin pack, which season pass owners get for free.

Our Weekend In Gaming: We're All Doomed

Appropriately, the Co-Opticrew is spending this weekend researching the potential results of a global apocalypse.  Granted, the situation they're analyzing is more, uh, demonically-focused, but you might as well be prepared for all outcomes, right?  With any luck, we'll emerge from the weekend with a greater understanding of how to double jump and rip the limbs off any monstrosity that looks at us funny. When we're not exploring Mars, we'll be playing America's (digital) pastime, slicing and dicing ghosts, and sobbing into our Mr. Resetti plushes.  Check it out!Nick Puleo (@NickPuleo) - "DOOM and MLB The Show 19."

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint To Receive New Ghost Experience Mode

about X hours ago from

When Ghost Recon: Breakpoint released late in 2019 it was met with a less than stellar reception. This in turn led developer Ubisoft to remap the game’s focus and direction for the future. We now seem to be at the first step of that new plan, with the impending release of the “Ghost Experience,” which comes to all platforms March 24th. As laid out in their post, Ubisoft’s Ghost Mode breaks the game into three modes: Regular, Immersive and Custom. Regular is how the game was released originally, Immersive removes gear levels and tiered loot so players can simply be Ghosts, and Custom allows players to mix and match different gameplay settings as they see fit.The post by Ubisoft goes on to explain in detail how the options will alter the gameplay experience, giving players more control over the loot they find, the difficulty of enemies faced, switching between modes, and more. As with their other titles that have received a lot of post-launch support, Ubisoft is trying to remain transparent about the changes, even highlighting a number of alterations that were made as a direct result of community feedback. Overall, this level of attentiveness to a game and a franchise that has such a loyal and caring fanbase is exciting and incredibly enticing for those who aren’t already playing Breakpoint.

Happy Birthday, Warframe

about X hours ago from

Digital Extremes, the developer behind the popular space-ninja MMO Warframe, has announced that to celebrate of the game’s 7th anniversary, players will be able to receive in-game rewards beginning now and going through March 30th across all platforms of the game, be it Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or PC. Additionally, completing special Alerts on the weekends throughout the month of March results in unlocking anniversary gifts (ranging from cosmetics for your Warframe to weapons) from the past 6 years of the game, regardless of how much (or how little) you’ve played - what a happy birth month! While the developer has done very little to show off little more than the new skin in the 7 Year Trailer (below) the skin itself is pretty sharp. Even better is the level of care that the developer has put into the game itself over these past seven years, taking what was once a small, third-person shooter and continuing to add and improve based on feedback from the community and the growing vision for the game. This level of dedication to the product and community is truly something worth celebrating. Pair with that with the high level of quality in the trailer overall and there is clearly a passion baked deep into Warframe, both from fans and the developers themselves.

Phantasy Star Online 2 open beta arrives in North America

It has been a long time coming, but SEGA’s Phantasy Star Online 2 is now available to the masses in English for the first time. PSO2 has soft-launched as a free-to-play open beta on Xbox One this week, and it offers plenty of Japanese-style action-RPG co-op goodness. After launching in Japan a whopping 8 years ago, an official English version of Phantasy Star Online 2 seemed increasingly unlikely over time. But last year, Microsoft finally made a deal with SEGA to bring the game to North America as a timed Xbox and PC exclusive. Now it’s here, and it won’t disappoint fans of the original Dreamcast/GameCube/Xbox classic. PSO2 is an online-only MMO that supports parties of 4-players as well as 12-player Urgent Quests that are available for a limited time only at different times of day. Players will start by selecting a ship (server) and then creating their own unique characters from four races and 12 different classes. After completing a short single-player tutorial, they’ll arrive on the huge lobby ship from they can accept quests and descend to planets with other players.
