Cooperative Puzzler Death Squared Coming to PS4

about X hours ago from

SMG Studios' co-op puzzle game, Death Squared, will be making its way onto PlayStation 4 in addition to PC and Xbox One. Similar to the Xbox One version, the PS4 version of the game will include some console exclusive levels in the challenge mode, as well as some cube skins. The puzzle aspects of the game are rather interesting, as our own Tally Callahan discovered when she got hands-on with it last spring during PAX East. Players each control their own cube and have to navigate their way around a platform while syncing their progress with their co-op partners'. A misstep or if the timing gets off, then you or your partner may be on the unfortunate end of some spikes or a laser beam.Death Squared supports two player local co-op in its story mode, and four players locally in the challenge mode. It will come out on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 simultaneously sometime early next year.

The Behemoth's Pit People Enters Early Access Next Month

about X hours ago from

If you've been eager to get your hands on The Behemoth's next offering, you're in luck. Pit People is entering Steam Early Access and the Xbox Game Preview program next month.Pit People is a bit of a departure from The Behemoth's previous titles as it swaps out much of the action that was found in those games for a more tactical approach. You and your co-op buddy will control units on a hex-based grid and issue commands for where they move and attack. You'll be able to recruit new types of units and outfit them with gear in order to make your army more deadly. The title will officially go on sale for $15 on January 13. It will support co-op, both online and local, throughout the campaign and in the other modes, like quests and Unfair Challenge. It's worth noting that the Steam Early Access and the Xbox Game Preview versions of the game are different, so buying one does not get you the other one to boot (i.e., this isn't an Xbox Play Anywhere title).

Turtle Rock Teaming Up With Perfect World for Next IP

Turtle Rock Teaming Up With Perfect World for Next IP

Turtle Rock has revealed that it will be working with publisher Perfect World to develop its next IP. The game will have "strong dark fantasy elements" and also be a co-op FPS like their previous titles (Left 4 Dead and Evolve), but it will also be free-to-play, as Evolve Stage 2 became.This new title won't be a spiritual successor to any of Turtle Rocks' previous IPs. While it will have the familiar "moment-to-moment gameplay... with a huge focus on co-op FPS" that rocketed Left 4 Dead to such popularity, the team also wanted to distance themselves from the zombies and post-apocalyptic themes of their past work. It will also sounds like the game will be free-to-play. Even if Evolve Stage 2 (or Evolve) didn't pan out quite as the studio hoped, they did learn some lessons from it all.

Next DLC for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Arrives January 3

about X hours ago from

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth will be getting its next (and final) piece of DLC next month with "Afterbirth+." This will be released on the PC initially and the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One eventually. While the big draw for this DLC is the inclusion of mod tools for users to make their own levels (PC only, I'm afraid), it will also add some features for every platform, like a new final chapter, a new boss, new items, and a new playable character. Here's the full list from the dev's blog post:"Afterbirth+" will be available on PC via Steam next month on January 3. It will retail for $9.99 normally, but if you already own the "Afterbirth" DLC, then you'll get it for just $6.66. It will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (minus the mod tools) sometime in the Spring of 2017.
