Minecraft's New Character Creator Will Allow You To Be Your True Self

Minecraft may be experiencing a resurgence of sorts in pop culture, but that doesn't mean the developers ever stopped plugging along on updates for the game.  All sorts of new features, items, and biomes have been added over the years, and now, at long last, a character creator is on the way. There's only one way to access the character creator as of right now, and that's by opting into the game's beta build on Windows 10, Xbox One, or Android.  If you're interested in doing so, instructions can be found here.  Once the beta concludes, though, the ability to customize your avatar will be available for all "Bedrock" versions of Minecraft. It's worth noting, of course, that the modding community for the PC version of Minecraft has made custom skins available for quite some time, and "official" skins of all types can be purchased as DLC.  However, this is the first time players can adjust their avatar's hairstyle, body size, and skin tone at whim.  The patch notes also indicate players can engage in "limb replacement", which... sounds much more menacing than it probably is.

Red Solstice 2 Alpha Sign-Ups Are Now Open

about X hours ago from

The Red Solstice 2: Survivors still doesn't have a set release date, but that doesn't mean you can't play the game now; Ironward has announced that alpha sign-ups are available. If you head over to the registration site and provide an email address, then you can experience the action strategy game for yourself ahead of its impending release. As a quick refresher to what Red Solstice 2 is, it's an isometric, "real-time tactical combat game." To break that down, you're pointing-and-clicking your way around a map as you use cover and special abilities to shoot your way through enemies (you can watch us play the original Red Solstice to get some idea of how this looks/plays). The sequel offers a number of improvements/changes over the first one, such as a new system where you can research, build, and upgrade new tech for your in-game protagonist, but it still features eight player online co-op.Alongside the alpha sign-up announcement, there's a new trailer that shows off some gameplay and asks "what is the price failure?" (spoiler: it's getting eaten by aliens)

New Ghost Recon Breakpoint Trailer Feat. Lil Wayne

about X hours ago from

Video game trailers that take a comedic approach can be hit or miss, but the new trailer for Ghost Recon: Breakpoint featuring Lil’ Wayne and directed by David Leitch (“Deadpool 2”) is a complete success. Not only does the trailer show off nothing but co-op action, but it pokes fun at the celebrity involved on a personal level, rather than just having him playing (or lack thereof) Breakpoint. You can check out the trailer below. With Ghost Recon: Breakpoint’s open beta coming Sept 26th-29th, the additional attention of this trailer will hopefully get more people involved in said beta, ensuring closer to accurate stress testing and a better launch. The official launch is set for October 4th, meaning if you like the trailer and enjoy the upcoming beta you will not have long to wait between your time in the world’s beta and your time in the fully realized game. Did you enjoy the trailer, or do you prefer not to have celebrities creeping into the marketing of games? Anthem Leaves “Acts” for “Updates”

Anthem Leaves “Acts” for “Updates”

BioWare has officially ditched their post-launch plans for their ever-in-a-downward-spiral game, Anthem. Instead of delivering “Acts” that contained a few large content updates, they will now focus on addressing “core issues” while providing smaller “seasonal updates.” What this means for the community is that rather than continuing to roll out varied, monumental events, the team will be working to improve the core game and “deliver challenges and chases” similar to what was released a couple of months after its initial release, at least for this year. Unfortunately this is not the first time that Anthem has had issues. In the same blog post that announced this change to content plans, BioWare’s Head of Live Service, Chad Robertson, also stated, “As I’ve said previously, we want to be transparent with you that we know more work needs to be done to make Anthem better. We also want to ensure we’re backing up our words with a great game you can play.  So I don’t have any news today to share about the long-term changes we are bringing to Anthem.“ Will Anthem reevaluating their method of keeping up with the game keep you coming back, or has Anthem already been replaced, as far as you’re concerned? Fight ‘N Rage Coming to Consoles

about X hours ago from

If you’ve been fighting ‘n raging in Fight ‘N Rage on PC since 2017 you may be asking yourself “What am I to do now with this persistent need to fight ‘n rage when I’m on the go?” Or “What about ragin’ ‘n fightin’ on consoles? And what’s killing the bees in our modern world, anyway?” If these questions apply to you, ask no more! Fight ‘N Rage will be coming to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on Sept 27th, and on the PlayStation 4 “soon.”While we haven’t pinpointed an answer to the bee problem you had just yet, we can give you our thoughts on Fight ‘N Rage from back when Nick and Jason streamed the game on Steam. They fought and raged through multiple levels and bosses, unlocked some items and in the end saying they enjoyed the music, the combo system and the unlockable items. That full stream can be found here.Is it time for you to begin fightin’ ‘n ragin’ again now that the game is headed to consoles, or have you found that the PC version got all of that out of your system? Our Weekend In Gaming: Pumpkin Spice Loot Drops

With fall(ish) weather beginning to approach in earnest, the Co-Opticrew has settled into some familiar rhythms.  Maybe it's the tiny bit of nip in the air, or maybe it's the slight orange tinge of the trees, but either way, we've decided now's the perfect time to transition into a few of this year's heavier game releases.Specifically, we'll be spending the weekend exploring Pandora, throwing on our LEGO disguises, and looting 'til the cows come home.  Check it out!Jason Love (@JLove55) - "Having finally reached 'Mayhem Mode' in Borderlands 3, I'll be looting and shooting to see how well this thing holds up in the endgame."

Borderlands 3 Stream Recap and Early Impressions

about X hours ago from

Gearbox has finally released Borderlands 3 upon the world, so Mike, Nick, and I sat down and played through a little bit of it this past Monday for our regular "Let's Play Co-Op" stream. It's definitely more Borderlands, but there have been a few updates/improvements that have made it fun to play, at least.WARNING - there are story spoilers starting around the 7:45 mark in the video, and MAJOR spoilers starting around the 37:00 mark. If you're trying to avoid any of that stuff, then just tune in for the first seven minutes or so when we discuss the co-op options and a few other improvements. If you don't care (or have already experienced the story for yourself), then you can enjoy all of our hijinx.

Buyer Beware - Couch Co-Op Issues Plague Borderlands 3 on PS4

about X hours ago from

Borderlands 3 launched last week and it seems it may have needed a few more minutes in the oven to get that fine, squishy texture we all love from the delicious dessert. We've been getting a few reader tips and various outlets are reporting of technical and performance issues plaguing all versions of the game. That said, IGN has shown in a video some serious issues that specifically plague the PlayStation 4 version of the game and its split-screen couch co-op mode. Everything from framerate issues, textures not loading, unreadable text and hitches in the action can make the game almost unplayable. Check out this video. Our own staff has been playing the PC version of the game and have found similar issues when the action really heats up. Eurogamer's Digital Foundry took a look at all versions of the game and have come to the same conclusion - there's some serious performance issues here.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Everything's On Fire!

Our Weekend In Gaming: Everything's On Fire!

The Co-Opticrew seems to have gotten a tiny case of pyromania this weekend.  Nearly everything we're playing revolves around fire, from emblems to ashes to rings (of the "rule them all" variety).  I highly doubt we'll be doing much with actual, physical fire, but you never know.  If you hear any fire alarms going off in the next few days... maybe check back here and make sure we're okay. When we're not playing with flames, we'll be fending off hordes, looting an infinite variety of guns, and edge camping our friends.  Check it out!Nick Puleo (@NickPuleo) - "Gears 5 is in my future."
