Bungie Explains Why Destiny's Iron Banner Event Feels A Little Flimsy

about X hours ago from

When Bungie promoted the current Iron Banner event, it told players that their weapon and armor stats mattered. Some players expected that there would be a direct translation from single player stats to the crucible multiplayer mode. As many found out, that’s not exactly how it worked out.

In the Destiny weekly update, Bungie senior designer Derek Carroll explains how Iron Banner takes your gear into account. Instead of being a direct translation of the stats you see on the inventory screen, things are still tweaked to give lower level players (and even those that haven’t run the Vault of Glass) a fighting chance.

“Our solution to add power back into the mix and keep the Crucible from turning into a ghost town is to scale it down to a reasonable level, and clamp damage on the ‘overkill’ end,” writes Carroll. “A decked-out endgame Guardian can’t defeat a low-level guardian with one shot from an Auto-Rifle. In fact, ‘time-to-kill’ is the same when you’re using higher-level gear against lower-level gear. The opposite is not true, so an enemy with average weapons is going to have a harder time taking you out.”

Check Out Test Footage From The Upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy Cartoon

The Guardians of the Galaxy are headed for their own Marvel animated series. If you’ve been paying attention though, you’ll know that this isn’t the first time they’ve been on the small screen.

The Guardians have appeared on Ultimate Spider-Man, but this time, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot are keeping the spotlight to themselves. The quintet has been big for Marvel, which has made some smart moves to capitalize on this summer’s film.

BioWare Addresses Concerns Over Elimination Of Healing Spells

BioWare Addresses Concerns Over Elimination Of Healing Spells

Fans expressed some worry over healing spells not being in Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is understandable considering staying alive wasn't the easiest in the past games.

BioWare senior writer Luke Kristjanson already wrote an entire blog post explaining the reason for the change, citing the past games' problematic balancing for the reason people relied on healing spells so much. He assured people not to worry, but there's still been some concern going around.

Therefore, writer Patrick Weekes wrote a new blog, detailing his experience with the game as someone who usually plays on a normal, but has considered going down to easy. Weekes breaks down certain concerns he's heard from fans and sets the record straight, addressing topics like the likelihood of running out potions (next to none), if this means the game is easier than past entries (no way), and if you'll be chugging potions all the time or if there's other powerful spells to keep you alive (the latter seems to be accurate).
