Rumored Titles For Star Wars: Episode VIII

Update: Filming for Star Wars: Episode VIII concluded this summer, and we should be seeing a teaser early in the new year, accompanied with a title. The latest rumor comes from a trademark filing through the European Union Intellectual Property Office. The name filed is Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. As AVS Forum points out, the filing is for an extensive list of retail items, such as coin purses, pencils, action figures, and more.

I think it's a weak title, but it does perhaps point to Lucasfilm trying to link this new trilogy through the word "Force." So there would be the Prequel trilogy, Original trilogy, and Force Trilogy. As always, give us your two cents on the title in the comments section below.

Original Story: Filming is officially underway for Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII. Fans are flocking to the internet with rumors and photos from the film's sets. Most of these rumors won't be verifiable until the film hits theaters on December 17, 2017, and they should all be taken with a huge grain of salt at this point, but it is fun to discuss them and see what people are learning and thinking. Moreover, pertaining specifically to the name of the film, it'll be fun to see who was the first (or closest) to getting it right.

Former Witcher Developer Joins Dying Light, Dead Island Studio

Damien Monnier, formerly of CD Projekt Red, didn't have to leave Poland to land another job in game development. Monnier is joining Techland as a lead designer after leaving CD Projekt Red in November. He served as senior gameplay designer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the well-loved RPG from 2015, and was acting as lead designer for the collectible card game, Gwent.

Techland is known for the Call of Juarez first-person shooter series as well as its zombie-centric titles Dying Light and Dead Island. However, its upcoming projects may be more in Monnier's wheelhouse. In May, Techland confirmed that it was working on two more games, one of which is an "open-world fantasy game with RPG elements." The other was implied to be Dying Light 2, but nothing was confirmed.

CD Projekt Red told Eurogamer that Monnier left on good terms, and Monnier publicly thanked CD Projekt Red after his departure.

You Can Try Out Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare For Free This Weekend

If you have yet to play Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, you can try both the campaign and multiplayer modes for free this coming week.

Activision announced they'll be holding a free trial of the game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners starting Thursday, December 15 and running through Tuesday, December 20. Players can try out the first two levels of the campaign, "Rising Threat" and "Black Sky," and jump into multiplayer (with a level 15 cap) and the zombies mode (with a level 3 cap). PC players are, unfortunately, out of luck this time around.

Any progression you make during the free trial will carry over if you decide to purchase the full game.

Sony Reveals November’s Most Downloaded PS4 Games

With new releases like Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Final Fantasy XV, Dishonored 2, and Watch Dogs 2, November was a big month for games.

Infinity Ward and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare seem to be the big winners last month, as the space shooter took in the most downloads on PS4. It should be noted that these numbers don't take into account physical sales, so the total sales rankings could look a bit different.

PlayStation Blog also shows that Psychonauts was the most downloaded PS Classic title, Jak and Daxter Collection was the most downloaded Vita game, and Job Simulator was the most downloaded PSVR game. Check out the list of the top 20 most-downloaded PS4 games below.

Super Nintendo World Attractions To Be Constructed In Japan By 2020

Nintendo and Universal announced that construction for Super Nintendo World will be up by 2020. The attraction will not only feature themes and characters from Mario but also other "globally popular Nintendo characters."

Concept plans for the park include the usual entertainment for a theme park with plans for multi-level environments, shops, restaurants, and rides. Development costs for building the attraction are already looking to exceed 50 billion Yen. Ride designs will be heavily influenced by Shigeru Miyamoto and president of Universal Creative Mark Woodbury. These two may take some inspiration from Nintendo Land, the Wii U title that mimics a theme park.

This will be the first location of Super Nintendo World, with openings for Universal Orlando and Universal Hollywood coming later. This date was likely picked to coincide with the Tokyo Olympics happening later that same year.

Miyamoto Suggests He May Devote More Time To Star Fox And Pikmin

Speaking to journalist and host Katie Linendoll for her web series Katie<dot>Show, Nintendo's legendary Shigeru Miyamoto said he wished Fox McCloud and Pikmin were bigger hits.

"I always wanted Fox McCloud to be a bit more popular than he is," Miyamoto said through his translator. "But I think one more would be Pikmin."

This echoes sentiments Miyamoto shared with Game Informer this year at E3, when he said he felt that the tepidly-reviewed Star Fox Zero is still a game worth playing.

Togepi, Pichu, Holiday Pikachu, And A Few More Gold & Silver Pokémon Added To Go

Togepi, Pichu, and several "select Pokémon" are now available in Pokémon Go.

People have been excited for more Pokémon to catch in Niantic's augmented reality app for a long time, and now you'll finally be able to find a few new critters. The catch is you'll only be able to add them to your Pokédex if you walk and hatch eggs. The new Pokémon are from the Gold and Silver generation, but it's unclear how many of them there are. Trainers will also be able to discover a limited edition Pikachu, decked out in a festive hat to celebrate the holidays until December 29.

This all following the news that 7,800 Starbucks have become PokéStops.

Battlefield 1 Update Adds New Map, Spectator Mode

Today DICE revealed the depth of December's planned Battlefield 1 update, and the additions are impressive.

Leading the way is the Giant's Shadow map, the first new one since the game's October release. The map is based on the battle of the Selle in 1918. "With a massive crashed airship casting its shadow onto the battlefield, you can expect fierce combat on the open ground and river banks alongside the Cateau-Wassigny railway," DICE says on the Battlefield blog. The free map is available to play on December 13 for premium members, and December 20 for the wider public.

The return of Spectator mode also allows players to observe other matches using a free-cam or switching between first- and third-person perspectives for any player participating in the battle. The update also adds another custom game type, Standard Issue Rifles, which limits class weapons to their faction's standard issue rifle.

Assassin's Creed Movie Final Trailer Puts Emphasis On Sci-Fi Present Day Sequences

I always appreciated the earlier Assassin's Creed games for their strange blend of science fiction and history. The newest and final trailer for the Assassin's Creed film has been revealed, and it shows that it won't shy away from the series' science fiction lore and artifacts like the Apple of Eden.

The movie stars Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch, who, similar to Desmond, is in the clutches of the Templars in present day, and experiences the incredible adventures of his ancestor through an Animus. Through these journeys, Callum assumes the role of Aguilar in 15th Century Spain.

You can watch the trailer below, along with another short clip titled "Cafeteria" that premiered recently.
