The Best Skills In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla And How To Find Them

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is out today, and as I mentioned in my review, it is a fascinating evolution for the series. One of my favorite changes is the game’s approach to skill selection, which gives players a vast array of options to gradually work toward, navigating a series of node clusters to unlock new powers. But which skills are the best? That’s going to be a matter of debate among the community, but based on my time with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, here are some great options that are incredibly useful regardless of your preferred playstyle.

Here’s what you need to know first: Valhalla draws a distinction between “abilities” and “skills.” Abilities are gained by finding hidden books (and sometimes completing quests), and these are the things that you map to the face buttons for active use – usually during combat. Those aren’t what I’m talking about here. Instead, I’m focusing on skills, which are obtained exclusively by investing in Valhalla’s sprawling skill chart.

Zombie Royale Is The Best Call Of Duty: Warzone Has Ever Been

Zombie Royale Is The Best Call Of Duty: Warzone Has Ever Been

Call of Duty: Warzone is my favorite game of the year. I can't imagine anything between now and December 31 dethroning it after spending hundreds of hours playing it almost every single day. But it was surprising to find a limited-time Halloween game mode completely reshape my opinion on what makes for a good Warzone match. Warzone's new Zombie Royale has not only solidified my best-of-the-year consideration for the base game, but it's also the best the game has ever been.

Zombie Royale was added to Warzone back in late October as part of The Haunting of Verdansk update, bringing new Halloween-themed skins, cosmetics, and game modes. Largely, the update was fair to middling. Seeing the tiny Jigsaw puppet from the Saw movie series now the size of a full-grown man is very dumb looking; the night-time Warzone didn't adopt the pitch-black night of the campaign and multiplayer modes, looking like a 6:00 p.m. dusk has settled over the map; and, worst of all, it added jump scares that randomly pop up when looting and opening boxes. I cannot stress how much I hate these cheap scares and their spooky screams that are easily two times louder than everything else in the game.

But then there's Zombie Royale, which has become the go-to way to play Warzone for my friends and me.

Your Apex Legends Season 7 Guide To Success

Your Apex Legends Season 7 Guide To Success

I’ve played Apex Legends almost every day since its 2019 launch. After grinding over the summer, I finally forced my way into Apex Predator, the highest ranked tier in the game. But while my fondest memories of Apex Legends occurred early on when many of its revolutionary mechanics were still new to the battle royale genre (e.g the pinging system, ability kits, etc.), I can assure you that the game has never looked or felt as good as it has since Season 7’s recent release. To help bright-eyed newcomers or any veterans that are looking to experiment or change their playstyles, I’ve compiled a short guide that highlights some of the best landing spots, weapon loadouts, and squad compositions to help you quickly adapt to the latest arena, Olympus.

Rift is hard to miss (see above) and, because of this, it’s reminiscent of previously popular locations like Skull Town and Capitol City. Rift is home to a plethora of loot-filled buildings, rewarding flank locations, and advantageous vantage points. Once you’ve finished wiping the floor with any other team foolish enough to follow you through its cosmic barrier, grab the nearby Trident to quickly rotate to another hot spot or jump into the unstable wormhole at its center to be teleported across the map.

What You Need To Know Before Playing Yakuza: Like A Dragon

What You Need To Know Before Playing Yakuza: Like A Dragon

Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be released on November 10, and in case you didn't hear, it's really, really good. There's a lot of anticipation for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's next melodramatic-yet-goofy crime drama, but there are also a lot of Yakuza games that precede it. If you're planning to take a dive into the series but want to start with the latest entry, we've compiled a quick list of things you need to know about Like a Dragon and the Yakuza series at large before you begin your trip through Yokohama.

Prior to Like a Dragon, there were seven mainline Yakuza games; samurai, zombie, and courtroom-based spin-off games; a Japan-only mobile game; a PSP game; and even a live-action movie by legendary Japanese director Takashi Miike and its straight-to-video prequel. We recommend you check out the large majority of them. But we also recognize the series has a lot of baggage. Starting with Yakuza 0, the chronological first game in the series' story, and working your way up to Like a Dragon would take hundreds and hundreds of hours.

Is PlayStation 5 Or Xbox Series X Right For You?

Is PlayStation 5 Or Xbox Series X Right For You?

With both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hitting next week, it’s time to decide which new-gen console is right for you. After spending weeks with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, we feel good about the starting point for this generation and its ability to elevate our gaming experience. However, a few differentiating factors could make one or the other a better fit for your situation.

As you read in our PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S reviews, both consoles are physically large and offer substantial performance boosts over their predecessors, slashing load times while adding processing power, audio improvements, and features like ray tracing. With a strong emphasis on getting the player into the game as fast as possible, the two consoles accomplish this in different ways. Xbox Series X/S’s Quick Resume feature lets you suspend several games and bounce between them, picking right up where you left off. This means if you’re the kind of person to play through multiple games in parallel, Xbox’s approach could save you a ton of time. Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 uses Activity Cards, which often let you load directly into the mode or lobby you want to enter, skipping the menu song and dance, and allowing for rapid switching of activities within a given game.
