The game and comics industries are grappling with widespread allegations of harassment and abuse

The wider entertainment industry is having a moment.

Long after people who work in the film and television industries started naming and shaming carefully hidden abusers and bigots, those in the video game, tabletop, and comic book industries are opening up about abusers in their fields as well. Over the past several weeks, accusations have been flooding onto social media, inspiring even more individuals to step forward with their own personal accounts. And, like much of 2020 that we’ve experienced so far, it all seems to be happening so fast.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons update adding swimming, Pascal, and more

Nintendo will release a series of updates for Animal Crossing: New Horizons this summer that will add new (and returning) features, including the ability to go swimming and diving on your island, the company announced Thursday. Divers will be able to catch new sea creatures, and your swims out to sea will let you encounter a familiar face: Pascal the sea otter.

Swimming and diving are coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons as part of a free update due to be released on July 3. Players will be able to donate new sea creatures — eels, star fish, scallops, anemones, and more — to Blathers’ museum, and they’ll score new mermaid-themed DIY recipes from Pascal, Nintendo said in a news release.

Halo Infinite is on the way. Microsoft and 343 Industries are set to debut the game at a presentation sometime in July, but they’re already teasing us with a few new details. In a brief trailer released Wednesday, the developers even gave fans their first hint at who the antagonists of the latest Halo entry might be.

The teasers starts with a low bellowing voice that explains that “forces occupy the ring,” that “humanity will burn,” and that there will be “no more prophet, no more lies.” Finally, the voice gets to the most important part saying, “We are his will, we are his legacy, we are The Banished.”

Marvel’s Avengers stream reveals MODOK, new solo and co-op gameplay

Crystal Dynamics offered a new look at Marvel’s Avengers, the upcoming single-player and cooperative action-adventure game, on Wednesday during its War Table livestream. Here’s what we learned.

We’ve seen a few Marvel villains, like the Abomination and Taskmaster, in gameplay snippets from Marvel’s Avengers. Players will also battle hundreds of mechanized soldiers and robots built by AIM (Advanced Idea Mechanics), which deploys its creations under the guise of security after the Avengers disband. At the head of AIM is George Tarleton, better known as MODOK (aka the Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing). Ms. Marvel has an encounter with Tarleton in a new story trailer — you can watch it above — released during the War Table livestream, which apparently kicks off Kamala Khan’s journey to reunite the fractured Avengers.

Telling Lies and Her Story creator Sam Barlow is back with a mysterious new game

Sam Barlow, the creator of Her Story and Telling Lies, has teased a new game on Twitter. But figuring out what the experience is about may be a mystery game in itself.

On Wednesday, Barlow tweeted celebrating the five year anniversary of Her Story, as well as mentioning that fans could Wishlist his newest game on Steam right now. A trip to the game’s Steam page, however, reveals that just about everything about it is a mystery at the moment, including the title. At first, the game seems to be called Project A, with several letters after the A hidden from view. A click on its community page reveals that its title might be Project Ambrosia, but who knows if that’s a working title or what the game’s title will eventually be.
