Nintendo Switch has NES emulator and a copy of Golf, say data miners

It’s hard to say for sure — I cannot replicate this myself — but modders say they have found an emulator within the Nintendo Switch and a copy of all-time NES great Golf installed on it.

This is less about the game and more about the larger meaning. An emulator on every Switch would be a rather big deal. Moreover, as SwitchBrew.org noticed, this game packs instructions specific for the Joy-Con controllers, at least according to the images they supplied.

Destiny 2’s Trials of the Nine is worth playing for the badass intro alone

Destiny 2’s weekend player-versus-player event, Trials of the Nine, is now live, and the best thing about it so far is the spectacular way in which it introduces the competitors to each other.

For the uninitiated, Trials of the Nine is Destiny 2’s replacement for the original Destiny’s Trials of Osiris. Available only on weekends for 72 hours — from 10 a.m. PT on Fridays until the same time on Mondays — Trials of Osiris was a high-stakes three-on-three elimination mode in which teams attempted to win nine matches before they lost three.

The fight over Star Citizen’s production delay is getting dirty

The campaign to undermine the credibility of the team building Star Citizen is getting nasty.

Yesterday, an elaborate hoax was staged involving a staggering $45,000 in virtual goods. At least one major tech site took the bait, and the team at Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) spent the entire day trying to change the narrative online. The incident casts a spotlight on a dedicated group of trolls who spend much of their personal energy trying to smear lead designer Chris Roberts and his team at CIG.

Bungie explains how Destiny 2 armor resembling hate symbol made it into the game

Destiny 2 developer Bungie responded swiftly this week once it was notified of a piece of armor in the game featuring artwork resembling a logo associated with a white nationalist movement, apologizing for the design’s presence and pledging to remove it. Today the studio answered the bigger questions — namely, how did this happen in the first place?

In announcing the removal of the artwork on Tuesday, Bungie said its appearance in Destiny 2 was “not intentional.” But the strong similarities between the armor’s design and the logo for Kek, a satirical “religion” created by members of the so-called alt-right, led people to wonder if somebody on the Destiny 2 development team had very much intended to sneak the design into the game.

YouTube accepts Campo Santo’s copyright strike against PewDiePie, could lead to bigger issues

YouTube has accepted the copyright takedown request submitted by Campo Santo against Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg for his two hour stream of its game, Firewatch.

In a new video, Kjellberg addressed the copyright takedown request, confirming that the strike had gone through. Campo Santo founder Sean Vanaman first tweeted that Campo Santo would be issuing the request on Sunday, following one of Kjellberg’s livestreams where the YouTuber was caught using a racist term.
